Contacting DVC?

Simple math. As you are informed.... How many DVC points does WDW own? Now, how many points is WDW renting, via transfers to DVC properties?

I'm not going to sit here & do your homework for you. Take A) How many DVC points does WDW own? Subtract B) - how many points are being rented by way of transfer?

The fun part - try to find this data. NO ONE can find this data. It's very well hidden.

Currently? Due to transfers from Rental Units.... it's a LOAD. Fortunately, there is a valid DVC yearly Accounting Report. Let's see what it looks like, for 2020. I maintain - Disney is currently using more DVC points than it owns. If you don't own it, you can't rent it. If you DO rent it, without owning it? That cash needs to go back to the DVC Owners, by lowering their 2021 dues.
Ah. based on your statement, I thought you had data, but you say you don’t.

I think Disney is reaping a whole lot of extra breakage income this year, but since the contractual cap on breakage income offsetting dues has always been reached in the past, I don’t expect any reduction in our dues based on that.

Don't forget that there is a sizable number of non-US based owners that can not travel to the US to use their points, and most corporations that have points that they use as rewards for their employees are not going to be booking for a while, until the virus spread shows signs of slowing down or a vaccine is developed. There are also people
that currently are having financial difficulties due to the virus, so they aren't traveling. There are going to be a lot of rooms sitting idle while people hunker down to wait out this pandemic. Heck, I have a January reservation with banked points. If things don't improve by mid-December, I'll likely cancel and let those banked points expire. Times are uncertain, parks remaining open under the circumstances is uncertain, even being able to travel for leisure is uncertain.

But if you have evidence that there is wrongdoing between DVC and cash reservations, by all means, contact the Florida department that regulates timeshares, and let them know...they will look into it and make a determination.

They must be really busy now. I am still waiting for a reply to an email I sent to Member Satisfaction on June 2nd.
When I emailed Member Satisfaction again on June 17th asking when I could expect a reply, I received a response from Member Satisfaction that my correspondence was sent to Member Services for assistance. Any additional communication will come directly from Member Services.
I am still waiting for an answer to the question I sent on June 2nd.
I sent an email on May 29th and am still waiting for any response. So yesterday I sent another email to each of the drop down boxes. So frustrating.

I sent an email as well, and still haven't received a reply back. I try to call everyday, and only get a busy signal.

Finally called again on my lunch break at work and got through to member services. I had about a 40 minute wait, so pretty good considering. Cast Member was so nice over the phone and helped me with all my questions.

Everyone wants me to provide data, that only DVC has. The solution? Accounting, 2020 Financial year. I strongly believe that WDW is renting out DVC properties that they have no ownership of. I don't work for Disney. The only DATA we will get will be the 2020 Auditors Report.

This shows up about 2021. Let's see what it says, THEN attack me. If I'm wrong, based on the 2020 Auditors Report? I'll be the first to admit it.

Meanwhile - I maintain that Disney does not actually OWN enough DVC points to transfer every living creature to a DVC Property.

Just wondering - when you say Disney doesn't OWN enough DVC points to do what they're doing (which is transferring guests who decide to keep cash reservations that occur before cash resorts open instead of cancelling or changing dates to when the cash resorts are open), please clarify what you mean.

Do you mean only the 2% of points that Disney is required to own by law?

Or are you including the variable number of points that Disney owns at any given time via foreclosure or exercising ROFR?

Are you including the points that DVC members have deposited into RCI or converted to Reservation Points to book cruises or cash hotels, etc.?

Are you including the points that represent the rooms unbooked at 60 days (breakage)?

I agree with you that Disney's 2% of points that they own is not enough - but OTOH I think they have legal control of plenty of points to move people from cash resorts to DVC resorts during the time the cash resorts are closed. I've seen so many posts from people who deposited points to RCI, and DVC resort reservations are so wide open for the next 60 days (meaning breakage potential), that I think Disney has legal control of plenty of points and plenty of rooms to do what they're doing.

Do I wish they would increase the cap on breakage income so that we share in the additional breakage income I think (but can't confirm) they'll earn by this, via a reduction in our dues? Sure I do! But I don't think that will happen, and it's perfectly legal.

Again - "Accounting, 2020 Financial year. I strongly believe that WDW is renting out DVC properties that they have no ownership of. "

I'm just hoping that the DVC owners do not have to file a Class Action, RE Contract violation. Return the Rental Cash to DVC, do not nail us in the middle of a Plague. Suing WDW is ugly, long, and hard - please don't make us do this.

Let's see the 2020 Accounting Report, which will emerge 2021. Accounting numbers will give us the truth.

Does anyone else find this confusing?

Your response is: "Don't believe me? Do the calculations yourself! Oh, you can't! So it must be true."

I also don't get where you say DVC/Disney is "renting out" points. How exactly are they doing they?
