Looking for some help from fellow contact lens wearers.

When visiting the water parks, what do you do? I am basically blind without lenses/glasses, so I'm trying to determine my best vision plan. I could...

1. Go without lenses and never leave DH's side (would make me a nervous wreck because of DD7)

2. Wear my lenses with goggles. Do they let you wear goggles on all the slides and such? That would be important because a face full of water usually means either a lens pops out or becomes permanently (and uncomfortably) glued to my eyeball. Do goggles stay on when sliding? Any slides this is virtually impossible on?

3. Wear prescription sunglasses. I'm guessing these wouldn't be allowed or survive well sliding.

What do you experts do? Please advise.

Many thanks!

I've usually worn either glasses or contacts. But I don't do slides, so that might be the difference.

I've always worn my contacts at the water parks. I do all the slides, pools rivers, and don't have a problem. I do make sure I have a couple extra with me just in case(I wear disposables). So far I've never had one come out. Hope this helps.

I've never had a problem. Just don't open your eyes under water.

I would think that the goggles would make your contacts come out, if you wear them right so they don't let in any water. You need to push them into your eyes so they create suction and they change the shape of your eyes. I am planning on just wearing regular sun glasses and having a spare pair of contacts along.

I wear contacts and have not had a problem on any slides. Just be real careful wiping water from your eyes. The only place that was a problem was the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. Between the waves and all the people splashing, I was constantly getting water in my eyes. I put on a pair of goggles and that solved the problem.

Yes, you can wear goggles on all the slides and they should not be a problem with contacts.

I wear my contacts on all slides and never had a problem. I carry extra (disposables) just in case and I make sure not to open my eyes under water. The water is usually very shallow, so you really don't need to open your eyes upon exiting the slides.

I am also nearly blind without my lenses. I wear goggles at the water parks for slides, waves, etc. However, I have never tried any of the really big, fast slides so I can't vouch for that. I do swim out and try to ride the big wave at TL and occasionally the goggles slip to the side when the wave hits - if that happens I just shut my eyes quick and keep them shut until I can wipe the water off (a little disconcerting, but I am a strong swimmer and it has never been a problem - as soon as the main wave is past, I just tread water and clear my eyes and re-adjust the goggles.) I wear gas-permeable hard lenses.

We are a family of 4 and we all wear contacts with DS13 and DD11. DNA is a wonderful thing. I can't see the clock without my glasses. I'm not sure I could tell my family members apart without my glasses!! Very bad eye sight!! We all wear our contacts to the water parks. It's so much easier than glasses. I bring extra pairs though for all of us.

Thanks all for the helpful replies. I will bring some extras and goggles, see what works and have a great time! Thanks again.
