Consuming Wine Purchased from World Showcase Shops

If we purchase wine from the World Showcase shops can we have it opened for consumption in the park or do we have to take it out of the park unopened?

Any first hand experience would be appreciated!

You can't open it. In fact they will tell you that they will send it to the front of the park to be picked up before you leave. Package pick up is outside the epcot gates.

Wine bottles purchased from a store can not be opened at the park as they are sent to the front for package pickup. You can't walk around with glass bottles is the big reason.

If you get a bottle at a restaurant they aren't suppose to let you carry it out either.

if we can pick up the wine from the IG, what is the latest we can purchase wine and have it meet us at the IG? We might decide at 9:00 that we would like to have some wine later that evening. Will we be able to get it that night?

You can ask to have your package sent to the shop at International Gateway.

I think they ask to purchase up to 2 or 3 hours before you're picking it up

Yes, purchase must be made several hours before park closing, and before you are expecting to pick it up.

Thanks for the answers! Delivery of wine purchases is possible to the IG entrance of Epcot. I just have to sample and purchase early in the day.

Don't forget to bring your own corkscrew to open the bottle. I forgot mine one year and had a hard time finding one.
One bottle I purchased needed one and the other bottle had a screw top so it didn't.

they have cast members walking around all the stores in Epcot, picking up packages and sorting, for everyone, so they ask for that amount of time just to be sure it'll be there when you pick it up

If someone else sees it they can take it and have it sent to the front or Guest Relations.

France is terrible at following the rules of the parks. The official rule is glass bottles aren't allowed so it would make sense you can't walk around with a bottle of wine just on that.

Packages are sent to the shop at IG. They are stored in the stockroom so I would think this is an accommodation for Boardwalk/Epcot resort guests.

We bought a few bottles of Sakki in Japan and they boxed them up real good and slapped a "Do Not Open Inside Park" sticker on each one. Then they handed us the bag....

A couple of years ago we went to food an wine and I bought a bottle of whiskey in the wonders of life pavilion. They packaged it for me in a similar fashion, put it in a bag, then stapled the bag closed and gave it with me to walk around with. I was just told by CM's that I couldn't have the bag open when walking around the park, but nothing about the whiskey having to go to the front of the park for me to pick it up later.
