Construction on Main Street

Saw a photo today at the entrance to main street from a friend of mine on FB. One of the first buildings was completely covered by a drape of some kind. Have they been doing construction for awhile? Estimated finish date? Was not aware of it, thanks.

it was down, but went back up around 4/28.

More often than not, there is a scrim up on some facade somewhere on Main Street. They come and go all the time.

I believe there is currently a scrim on Emporium. OP, this is pretty common practice when work on buildings needs to be done. They place a scrim with the image of what the building should look like. It's disappointing, but better than an open view to the construction area.

Yes, there is a scrim on the first part of the Emporium for painting/general maintenance from what I see. Not intrusive at all to me.

Ah, that makes sense then. I was wondering why they'd spend several weeks working, finish then restart a week later. That's strange even for Disney

The same scrim didn't go up though. this is a generic pantyhose colored one and not the emporium looking one. There's a bunch all over the place like behind the castle on that store next to the princess meet and greet, carousel is being worked on so that has one, the restrooms near Pinocchio..

Just looks like they are finishing the places I didn't paint and freshen up before the holidays last year. emporium I suspect might be about to get new window art.. I can't see why that would be the only one with it up..

There's always something being worked on - its a vast place. Sometimes announced, sometimes unexpected (like how a pipe breaking at your house). It would be impossible to plan to go for a week where everything is perfect working condition. We went once in mid/late August and Space Mtn was down - unplanned, not rehab - for 5 days straight.

I'll count my blessings then. Having Space Mountain down during my trip sounds like a nightmare. It would be great to get a nice picture of main street. Last time I went that ugly crane was up behind the castle during the day.

One nice thing about it being on the Emporium, you can stand in Main Street and take a pretty good shot toward the castle while not including the Emporium itself. It was worse when the work was at the other end around Casey's and the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor - no way to get a scrim free shot on that trip.
