At the Marriott's website there is a comment about construction in the West Village of this resort thru January'06. Has anyone found this to be a problem? Is there a favorite area of this resort to request? And are the upper floors more desirable? Thanks in advance for any info.

marriott and disney both do a good job of hiding their construction - you won't notice it.....

you will have to go find it - if they are still following the plan from the last time we stayed - I will let you know when I get back....

you know about the new pool openning in June?

Thanks Spiceycat for your quick reply! We currently have reservations at Horizons for October this year, but after reading numerous posts that indicte it is more kid-oriented (it's only DH and me), I'm thinking of switching to MGV. I've never been to either as we are DVC members and stay onsite. I look forward to your review!!!

For adults with no children. I would also recommend Grande Vista over Horizons. Grande Vista definitely has a more upscale feel to it than Horizons both are beatiful resorts but GV for you guys I think is the better choice. Cypress Harbour which is directly across the street from Horizons is also a beatiful resort. In my opinion you can't go wrong with a Marriott timeshare resort.

We were there last April when construction started and you wouldn't have known it unless you looked across the lake to see the area. Never heard a noise.

We had a top floor villa (6th) overlooking the quiet pool, jacuzzi and golf course. It was perfect.

Cannot wait to get back there (11 months to go), especially with the new pool area. The website said the pool would be finished but not all the villas (2006). I hope to stay in that area, but the last thing my construction husband wants to see is a construction site while on vacation

Looking forward to everyone's trip reports when they return :D

Just back from Marriott Grande Vista. Our three bedroom was beautifully furnished and the whole resort was very pretty. We were located in building 82 which was very convenient to the main pool/Marketplace/lobby. You could definitely see the construction occurring straight across the lagoon. You could also hear it, but I didn't find it too intrusive. It didn't start early and even during the day my nephew was able to nap with no problem, although you could hear it. We were on the first floor which was great for us with two toddlers in strollers.

Found the main pool to be a bit crowded but hopefully that will be eased when the new one opens. Incidentally, construction still seemed very much in progress and I'm surprised to hear it's supposed to be completed in June. If you want to avoid the construction I'd say you want a villa near one of the quiet pools, not near the central hub.
