Oops, I accidentally posted this in the Disney Resorts Forum, so I thought I would try again here.

I am not up-to-date on all the construction going on at all the DVC resorts, so I'm hoping I can get a quick answer here. I am getting ready to book a room for someone for the first week of June 2024. She is looking at either Riviera, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, or Bay Lake. I know there is the Poly Tower going up, but I don't think that will affect the DVC rooms since it's on the opposite side. Is there any construction going on at the other resorts, or will there be in June? TIA!

Bay Lake may start refurb. Hard to say. It is the highest likelihood of construction aside from the Poly tower impacting both Poly and VGF in a way.

Here’s the predicted refurb schedule https://dvcnews.com/?view=article&id=5196:dvc-resort-refurbishment-tracker&catid=166
AKV, CCR, BLT, & OKW are all supposed to be refurbed in 2024, so I’d avoid BLT.
The problem is that in addition to the work on the villas, there may be construction work to the hotel portion on a different schedule, for ex. the VGF refurb. was complete in 2022, but the refurb. to the GF’s non DVC buildings is ongoing & there is still scaffolding & construction walls up at the GF resort right now in late 2023, I would hope that by June 2024, they’d be finished w/ construction at the GF.
The Poly new tower construction is visible from both the Poly & the GF & the walkway between them is closed or rerouted, but otherwise it’s not too bad. Word is the Poly tower is due to open in late 2024.
Riviera should be a safe bet - it’s around 5 years old & thus not due its first refurb for a couple of years.

I had no idea AKV is getting refurb next year! I thought it was just done not too long ago. Is it both Jambo and Kidani?

The resorts are supposed to have a refurb every 7 years, alternating soft goods refurb w/ a full refurb., AKV Jambo & Kidani had a soft goods refurb in 2016, so they were due this year. No refurb. has been announced as of yet. We go to AKV every other year & we typically wouldn’t be there in 2024, I’m hoping they don’t push it into 2025, we had to deal w/ the construction at the GF last Dec. & I’m over vacationing in the midst of scaffolding, construction walls, & beeping equipment!

Maybe the soft goods refurb is what I’m thinking of. I can’t believe that has been that long ago! We own at AKV, but it’s been several years since we stayed there. I’m sure it is in need of a refurb.

I’m also booking at AKV for another friend for October 2024. I sure wish we knew if the refurb is going to happen or not.

When is the BLT refurb going to start and expected to be completed?
No announcements yet.

As far as the other resorts, that is a lot for full refurbs and I really do expect at least 1 (or more) to drop back to 2025.

The AKV refurb actually started last year, but last year and this year has thus far involved only outside refurbs, redoing pools, and at Kidani areas outside the lobby and along the rooms, and most recently redoing the roof (the Feb through Sep project mentioned above). The Internal room refurbs, the next step in the process, should occur in 2024. The first room refurbs, done in 2016, did Jambo first, then Kidani, but do not know if that will be the same order this time.

So, if they do decide to do the rooms in 2024, would there be chance at a lot of construction issues that could affect the trip? Beside doing something in the lobby, I wouldn't think it would interfere with much.

Depends on location of room. As long as all there are doing is the rooms (and possibly hallways) and not working at same time on other areas like the lobby, you will actuallynotice little to no work activity but there could be a noise issue which is generally limited to rooms above or below those being currently worked on.

At Jambo, the DVC rooms are only on the fifth floor except for over the lobby area where there are also sixth floor rooms, the club level rooms. For refurbs other than the rooms over the lobby area, they will block-off all or part of of a hallway at one time, e.g., the fifth floor rooms on the Kudo trail side pass the second set of elevators, and thus other areas will barely notice anything (unless you are a cash paying guest staying on the fourth floor below the DVC rooms being worked on). When doing the club level, the fifth floor DVC rooms below it could get noise, and vice versa.

At Kidani, the rooms on all floors are DVC, and thus when they are doing part of a floor on one side of the building, DVC rooms above or below it that are still being use could have noise issues.

BLT is next. Or I riot.
BRV owners had the torches and pitchforks ready, but BRV was finally done after Poly and VGF rudely pushed ahead in line, and then BWV had to wait for BCV to be finished even though it was in dire need. Good luck!

Thank you. Is there a plan to refurb the lobby?
