Construction At Beach Club?

Does anyone have an update on the roof work at Beach club? Staying CLub level and will move it if all we have to look forward to is the banging of a hammer during the day.

They just did roof work in 2007 when we stayed there why in world would you need a new roof so soon?

Anxious one.

Yikes! Are they working on the YC roof too??? We'll be staying CL there at the end of this month and I sure don't want to hear hammering.

We returned from the Beach Club Villas on 6/21 after a week long stay. Almost everyday they were doing concrete work down by the pool. The sound of the jackhammer breaking out the concrete was very annoying. To make matters worse my husband is a concrete forman and he said of all times for them to be doing that. The funny thing is he kept going over to peak at their work....he even asked them questions about how they got the little holes in the top of the concrete because he liked the way it looked.

We kept making jokes about that commercial where the guy is asking his wife/girlfriend is she packed his flip flops but he can't get a word out because of the background noise. That is what it was like at times.

But...I guess the work has to get done at some point.

Well I hope that this work is done by the middle of August. I'm not switching resorts again - I am sticking with the Beach Club. But it would be nice to not have any jackhammering going on during the vacation. But, like a previous poster said, it's got to be done at some point. Oh well.

Was this the BC Villa's quiet pool. We leave in 17 days, always stayed at YC, and the last thing I need (Grand Gathering 16 of us) is a jackhammer outside our door! Please tell me it wasn't the BC quiet pool.

Stayed at BCV the beginning of June and I can't remember where I heard this now but the info I got was that the roof had to be fixed due to damage from a hurricane. Sorry I can't remember more about it. Either we heard it from a cm or read it somewhere.

The repairs were announced on my reservation. I am looking for an update (maybe they are complete?)

I remember reading about the BCV pool being refurbed. That won't affect us since we'll be at the YC. But this is all new to me about anything going on at the BC. I know they refurbed the slide at SAB back in May. I'd love more info about what is going on there now. Thanks!

I just called the BC and they said there was no concrete and/or pool work being done at the present time. Do you think that means they finished, or was the CM mistaken?

It blows my mind that they would do that in peak summer?

Well there was concrete blocks being laid by the pool. The first one was right near hurricane hannahs and the work seemed to be near one of the bridges. The work was done on June 17th, 18th and 19th (those were the days I remember). It's probably done now.

On a side note, it seemed to be done first thing in the morning and than wrapped up by the afternoon.

• Now - Aug. 2, 2008: Disney’s Beach Club Resort shingle roof replacement
• Now - Sept. 8, 2008: Lobby floor refinishing at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
• July 14 - Aug. 8, 2008: Exterior door and window replacement. This work will be performed during the day using ladders and lifts."

oh yeah...there was scaffolds right outside of the marketplace but I didn't notice any noise from there work
