We are thinking about taking a day away from our Disney tickets and heading over to see Universal, mostly for Harry Potter. Is there anything we need to know? We are going in March. Do you think some of the crowds will have died down by then?

The only advise I can give you is get there early! We were there on Friday and literally everyone was heading toward Harry Potter and we went the other way and had no wait at all for the first couple hours we were there. When we did finally head over to HP we did the single rider line since the regular was a 75 minute wait!:scared1: We are not into HP so there was no way we would wait that long. It was a complete madhouse with people everywhere. If you are going in March I imagine it will be the same or worse since that is spring break time:confused3 Have fun and good luck, you will need it:rotfl:

Have you ever been to Universal/IOA before? We went for the first time in Sept. I liked it, and thought it was different. But I don't think I would go for more then one day a year. I don't really have alot of advice for you, just go and enjoy it, but don't expect it to be Disney. I don't think the crowds will die down for a while, if at all. I see it being like the Toy Story ride at DHS. Which has a pretty constant popularity. Good luck and have fun!

No, we've never been to Universal before. We will be staying at FW this trip and figured since we have a car we might as well go check it out. Still haven't decided yet though.

We went three times this year for 3 days each time. We've been going at least twice each year for the past 10 years. We still aren't tired of it and have our next trip booked for Feb. already. The last time we were at WDW was for 1 day in 2008. I think we will add in a few days on our Feb. trip but we still love IOA/USF best.

I agree with Damo. We went to WDW over 10 times from 2001-2008 and then we finally tried US/IOA! We love these two parks and have been coming 2-3 times a year ever since and haven't been back to Disney. We go again in January and are looking forward to seeing WWOHP for the second time. We have teenagers and all of us love the "cooler" vibe at Universal, as well as, the amount of thrill rides. We also think Universal's hotels beat Disney's and they are so close to the parks!:thumbsup2

Hi Damo :goodvibes When in Feb will you be going??? We will be there for our FIRST ever visit Feb 10,11 and 12. Hoping the lines aren't as bad that week, but we shall see!! It's just my son Andrew (14) and I, we don't have a clue which way to tour US, IOA, so we'll be taking it all in with wide eyes!!! :rotfl: I hope we are blessed with fairly low/at least manageable crowds in FEB!

The final film will be in theaters soon, and it will increase the popularity of all things Potter. With the great reviews for the HP attractions so far, I think this part of the park will remain popular for a long time.

Your week will be great. We aren't going until Family Day since that is when the universities are out. You and your son will love it. My son and I did many mother and son trips starting when he was about your son's age. We always have a good time.
