Considering staying off site

We've been staying on-site for at least the last 6 trips, but I'm thinking of staying off site on our next trip. We are thinking of doing mostly US and IOA, so would probably stay closer to that area. One thing we would like is a nice pool, since my son LOVES spending most of time swimming. I priced Cabana Bay, but I'm having trouble with the $175 a night rate, plus tax & parking. I also priced out a value at Disney and those are $145 including tax & parking.

Depending on when you are traveling Groupon getaways has some great deals right now running through December.

Spring break. The dates I'm looking at are March 7th-12th.

Yeah, I have found the popular times of the year generally aren't as adventageous to stay off-site...but...

My suggestion is this. Book something fully refundable now. About 7 weeks out (when the chance of a convention booking goes away), check everything off-site. You may find something better at that point.
