I everyone!

I'm new to the boards here but not new to Disney. I'm a DVC member and go to Disney all the time with family and friends. I love doing RunDisney events and I really want to do the Tower of Terror 10 miler. The only this is that I have no one that can come with me. I am considering going solo for the weekend but this would be my first solo trip and it makes me nervous thinking about it. I think it would be awesome going alone and going at my own speed but I have never done the parks alone so I don't know what to expect.

Any suggestions or thoughts from those that have done a solo trip would be helpful!

Also, what did you tell you spouse about going alone? I think my husband will be mega jealous if I go without him.

I did my first solo trip last April...and have another one planned for this year! I was really nervous too, but I wound up having the BEST time. You get to go at your own speed, you get to do what you want, when you want to do it and don't have to ask anybody what THEY want to do. You wanna ride Space Mountain until you're sick of it? You can because you're alone. I say do it because you definitely won't regret it.

I've done two fully solo trips and one partially solo trip (trip reports in my signature); I have a solo trip coming up before summer and another partially solo trip in October as well.

I wasn't sure what I'd think when I went on my first solo trip. My ex-DBF was pretty apprehensive as well; he felt it wasn't safe for me to travel on my own. But it was very safe (of course, always be on your guard, but with so many people around it was easy to feel safe).

It was nice to be able to ride what I wanted when I wanted, head back to the resort when I wanted, swim when I wanted, eat when, where, and what I wanted, and not have to consult with one or more people. However, I did feel lonely sometimes when I'd see all the happy families together (that wasn't too strong, since I've done mulitple solo trips now and am planning another!), but it was great to just change plans on the fly and not have to worry about someone else not wanting to do it.

The only thing I didn't like was being on the buses by myself - BORING. But I made do, and got to see a lot during my trips.

I did a short solo last year, and it's a little different. I found I enjoyed certain things more, and other things less. I found I preferred the thrill rides more than dark rides, because riding through the HM alone seems different. I can't quite place why.

It is super nice to be able to go at your own pace and ride what you want, when you want, and not have to keep track of anybody. Moving about just seems to take less time. I engaged in chatting with other people more, which was fun. I limited myself to counter-service, so the meals weren't that memorable (except for BOG lunch).

I only spent a day and a half (one MNSSHP, and one full day of 3 parks). I do think that as a solo traveller, I wouldn't want to spend too much longer than that. I can do a couple days, but I feel like a week would be too long. Still, I had a great time solo, and I recommend it to anybody.

I have done 2 solo trips and number 2 will be the ToT runDisney event this year as well. My 2 previous trips were just for 4 days. Like someone else said, I think much longer than that might be too much for a solo trip (but I wouldn't turn it down if someone gave it to me either :thumbsup2).

It can be intimidating when considering going along to such a huge place but at the same time, if you're going on vacation by yourself, is there a better place? I haven't done many rides, although more the 2nd trip than the first. For me, it was more about soaking up the atmosphere. This time it will be more about the race and I might just cram a bunch of rides in too. ;)

My spouse didn't want to go, I asked her. She thinks it's too much work with the 4 kids. And a couple weeks after my trip last August she said she wanted a divorce so I'm guessing she just didn't want to hang with me too. :)

I say go for it. It is my first runDisney event but from what I gather, there are a lot of people who go solo which makes it the perfect time to do your first solo trip since you won't stand out much as there will be probably a couple thousand more solo people too.
