My husband and I are considering buying a small contract at Vero Beach - to use solely at Vero Beach. We already have several contracts at 4 other resorts and we rotate them so that we usually combine 3 years of points for one reservation each year...so BCV one year, then OKW, then VGF. Then we have a small BWV contract to cover a long Food & Wine weekend each year. We have been to Vero Beach a couple of times and we really enjoyed it. Although, each time we've tried to book; there's never been any dvc rooms available so we have only been in Inn rooms. We would probably use our points in a similar way as we use our main points - combining 3 years points to add on a few days (hopefully in a beach cottage) at the end of one of our WDW trips every 3rd year. So we are thinking somewhere around 75 to 90 points.
We know it's not a super 'beach' resort - we never really go into the ocean much. We prefer just sitting on the chairs under umbrellas, relaxing and listening to the surf. If we really wanted to swim, we prefer the pool.
We also know that dues are significantly higher. I would love to try to find a subsidized contract, but I have not see one listed in quite some time and I doubt it would be a smaller contract.
Outside of that, am I missing any really big reason not to buy?
Then, do you really think it matters if I chose to put an offer in on a contract that wasn't the same use year as my others? I'm kind of thinking I should just bid on any contract that's got a good price and is in the range of points I need. I never find myself transferring points and in our 12 years or so of being members, I have only let 4 points expire.
Lastly, any real downsides to an International sellers? I did a search and it just seems like there may be a longer delay in the process. I'm fine with that.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts / comments
