Considering booking FL Tours. Never used the grocery stop before

Hi all

My family is going to be staying at The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort next year so I'm thinking about booking with FL Tours and taking advantage of the grocery stop so that we can pick up food for breakfast and lunches.

I've never done this before so I'd welcome some insights as to how to go about the Publix aspect. It looks like an online order has to be made beforehand and the order is then collected kerbside ... but do I place that order with Publix or Instacart? Anything else I should be aware of when doing this, perhaps?

Many thanks!

We have used Tiffany Towncar a number of times with a grocery stop.

We have never preordered, we've just been told we have 30 - 45 minutes to shop. Always plenty of time.

Unfortunately, even 30-45 minutes wouldn't be long enough for my family group! Apart from the fact that we've never shopped at a Publix before, they just aren't organised enough to figure out what they want to buy in advance unless absolutely forced to.

Which is why I was OK with the idea of placing the order online and doing a kerbside collection ... it just wasn't clear to me whether Publix themselves did this or if I had to use Instacart. It may make perfect sense to customers who do this sort of thing all the time but for tourists who only visit occasionally?

It may vary by location. My memory is curbside pickup is powered by instcart. Install the Publix app. I don't remember if a link sends you to instacart or if you place your order on Publix app and your order is transferred to Instacart for fulfillment.

Instacart generally markup the store prices.

Edited to add Selecting curbside sends you to the instacart app. You'll pay instacart marked up prices.

Edited to add Instacart makes money from delivery (service fees) Instacart also makes money by charging you more then what they pay the store (shelf price). Generally at least 10% sometimes approaching 40%++.

Just used Tiffant Towncar. The driver didn't give me any time limit for the grocery stop. However, I had a written list organized by aisle (which I obtained from the store website).

I'm unable to install the Publix app, unfortunately. It is restricted to US customers, as is their website but the latter I can get around with a VPN.

Hmm. OK - that is an idea. It would mean getting my family (or rather 3 families!) to be super-organised which would be a first for this lot!

The alternative is we stick to traditional means of getting to the Cabins and then Uber back to Publix so that we aren't on a time constraint. Tricky ...

Maybe that’s a better option. Get there, make a list and one of you run back to the shop. I make a list at home and sometimes my husband tags along but honestly it’s a lot quicker if I just go on my own. I know what we need and he side tracks to hunt for snacks and Irn Bru (They have a British section).
