Hi All,

New to the boards today. I found it because of the Toronto Breakfast Television promotion. I missed Wednesday's word, searched the net and found this board!

The entire time we watched the program my wife kept looking at each other and saying how much we want to go back. We were just there in September 2008!

All this said, I am a real estate agent in Toronto and was looking into offering a package to clients when they use me for their purchase/sale or refer me clients. I can get a package that includes an off-site hotel and park passes for two days. I'm just curious how many people here that would appeal to before I go ahead with my promotion. Your comments are greatly appreciated!

I think that's great! Much better than a plant, fruit basket, or other "nicknack" you may get as a gift.

I say go for it! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the feedback! I was just worried about the hotel not being on Disney.

I currently give my clients one of the trips as found here: diamondgetaway.com

and can arrange a Disney specific trip through the same company. The great thing is that while I pay for the first three nights, clients can add more time, upgrade, etc. The downside is that the trip does not include airfare.

I guess maybe I should've asked the question more directly:

Would you be enticed to work with a specific real esate agent knowing that he will give you a few free nights and park passes to Disney (assuming that he is just as good as most out there - and I think I am)?

I would have to say No. This seems to much like the Kurby home vaccum salesman's pitch to me. You know the saying if it is too good to be true, than it is. This might actually have a negative effect on some people.

You could offer a cash back insentive, or a donation of $XX to your clients favorite charity, local school or church.

I would be :) but only if it was an onsite hotel :lovestruc

and I meant to also add, I think 2 days is not enough time....perhaps offer a min. 4 day stay (at least the chance to see 1 park a day). I would not mind paying for my own flights if my hotel and tickets were covered.

my .02 - it wouldn't entice me at all. In order to use the "offer" you would have to pony up $$$ for a flight and realisticly I'm not sure how many people would go for just a couple of days. After a big purchase like a home and all the expenses that go with it, especially in this economy, a vacation likely isn't on the top of the list. What about a couple of days at a resort in Canada near Toronto, the Muskoka's are so beautiful.

Disney tickets (but not the hotel) would be a good incentive since they can be used anytime and upgraded how the user wishes.

Or--how about a 2 night trip to New York City! You can often snag air with Jetblue from Buffalo for $49 each way and deals on Hotels can be found using many sources, such as Travelzoo. I can see something like this being a fun escape and not too far away. Might be do-able for $500 per couple or thereabouts.:confused3

I would have to agree, after all of the expenses of buying new home a trip probably wouldn't be high on my list (just purchased last year, so I know of what I speak ;) ). On the other hand, 4orm has a good idea. If someone offered me a trip, I'd feel I was under some time contraints to use it and it would probably a waste under the circumstances I mentioned above. On the other hand, if the gift was tickets that the clients could use at a later date that would probably be more useful.
I don't think this offer would lure me to a specific agent though. People often work with whom they feel comfortable and probably wouldnt' be swayed by someone who offers them a bit of a cookie. It is a nice surprise after the fact though to get a little something unexpected. Our agent gave us a gift certificate for landscaping. Fabulous idea considering our house was a new build.
Maybe you should offer a choice. Hard to believe, but not everyone is into Disney!

If you are using it as an incentive to lure pontenial buyers it may work for uneducated first time buyers, but I doubt anyone who has been in the real estate market before would be interested.
I for one would be more interested in an agent who knows the area that I am buying/selling in, and also his or her track record in the neighbourhood.
Also too, you are using the same incentive that most car dealerships are using right now, ie buy a car, get a trip.

Thanks for all the feedback. I got that "free trip" when I bought my car which is why I am looking into it. They have several options and I have used the Las Vegas Trip with some success. The incentive is more a thank you, as I pride myself on providing excellent service to my clients in the first place. Most of my business comes from my referral network, so I am looking for ways to say thank you to those people primarily. I appreciate the feedback and any other ideas are most welcome!

I think the park ticket that others have suggested is a great idea and then the client or referral can select their accomdations.

The current travel offer is a trip for two to Vegas which includes flight and hotel and I understand that New York New York is available as one of the hotels. So you can visit New York in Las Vegas!

The company I use is called Travel America and every package that is offered through them can be upgraded which is really nice. Further, the trips are valid for 2 years, so you don't need to take it right away.

I think that I will likely come up with a bunch of different options that clients who refer me a successful buyer/seller can choose from and include the Florida/Disney trip as an option.

Thanks again everyone for your feedback!

Well, it may not sound as exciting to somebody living in Toronto, but I would want a trip closer to home like Niagara Falls ie. something that wouldn't require me to buy plane tickets.

I really like the landscaping gift certificate. Maybe there is a local business eg. paint store, decorating or furniture store, landscaper, that you could get a deal with to make the thank you even bigger.

Usually with home owners I try to get an idea of where they shop for places for the home and get them a gift certificate accordingly. One client mentioned he buys everything from Canadian Tire, so he got a Canadian Tire gift certificate. I know there are a lot of expenses when you first move into a home so I try to help them in some way towards those.

The same company also offers a combination golf/spa getaway for her and him. The Niagara Falls thing is nice too. Maybe I will look into that for people who refer me clients. Thanks!
