Considering a day at US! at new year.....

We have a big family trip planned for Disney , Dec 31 to Jan 9

We think we are going to break off for a day and go to US.

The thought is to go Sunday Jan 7th (during marathon at WDW) OR Sat Jan 6th OR Thursday Jan 4th.

Wondering what people's experiences have been with going to US at this time of year. Is it still super crowded come Thursday after New Year's? Are we better off waiting for the weekend? Traditionally is Sat or Sun better?

I did UO a few years back and started on Jan 3

Still crowded but crowds became lower at the end of our stay there
Jan 7-8 was best for us

If weekends have good weather, Saturday especially can have crowds

Many locals come to the parks on the weekend

Hmmm so maybe the Thursday the 4th we will see the crowds start to fizzle off...we only have 1 day there so would be willing to change up which day to avoid some of the crowds.

People are always commenting here how surprised they are at the crowds in early January. I'd hold off as long as possible.
