Consider Pre-ordering if dining at BOG!

Just wanted to make a Disney Dining Public Service Announcement. :earsgirl:

Had an ADR for BOG for lunch last week. When we walked up to the gates of the castle, we were shocked to see the long line stretching out of the castle. I thought, what is the point of making the ADR? That was the line though if you did not pre-order your meal. Fortunately I did pre-order and it was so easy!!! We just walked past everyone, paid, and sat down. Food magically appeared within 5-10 minutes.:drinking1

I can't remember what it was like. But is there a place for notes and dietary needs there?

Is there a separate line to pay if you pre-order? Is it fairly clear where to go/what to do? We've only done dinner before but are looking forward to lunch in September

Even though I placed the order only a month ago, I can't remember if there were a place to note allergies. May be not though because you are ordering your food, so you know what is in it ahead of time?

You are only allowed to check in 5 minutes before your ADR time. You then are allowed into the gates and if you let them know you preordered, you go right into the castle. On our day (TP 8 out of 10 crowds) there was no one in the pre-paid line so we went right up to the register. At that time you can add or change anything on your order!

When I did it in November I could look on the menu to see what I could order that was Gluten Free. I pre-ordered my gluten free food very easily. I'm not sure about other allergies, I only looked at gluten free.

There is a way to note food allergies when you pre-order. We did it on our last trip.

Great!

It's gluten for us so this is all I need! Thanks. I want to preorder and be in and out in 25ish mins. We're only doing 2 hours in the park before hopping to AK. I'm excited to get up front for 7DMT if possible. I'll tell the kids we can explore when we come back for lunch and dinner.

This was not the experience we had - there was a ADR line and a standby line. We didn't pre order either time we went this last trip and walked right in through the reservation line - went to a kiosk, ordered our food, then sat down - was just as quick as getting in the line to pay after pre ordering. :confused3

How interesting! When we were there it was only two "lines", one the essentially no-line pre-ordered, and the ridiculous ADR line. No walk-up line. Hmmmm.

We went twice, and pre-ordered for the first time, but not the second since we weren't sure if we were going to keep the second reservation or not. And then we just forgot all about preordering....never doing that again! I agree, the line was insane. And I liked the preorder experience a lot better.

We were just there last month and experienced the same. Those who pre ordered walked right in and those who did not were in a very long line outside in the sun waiting for a kiosk. I wasn't expecting that at all. Unfortunately, we have complicated food allergies so we couldn't preorder without confirming what they kids could eat.

It was the waiting in the sun part especially that looked miserable! 12Noon is not a great time for that!

I was just looking at making an ADR for breakfast in September, but it is not offered? Is breakfast just a summer thing?

For now. Breakfast was only running until I think mid-July as a test. It hasn't been expanded yet I don't think.

I had a very good and similar experience as OP this past November (when lunch was reserved with FP). We pre-ordered and the process was so quick and seamless. There was one other line for those that did not pre-order and it was quite long. I will be pre-ordering again for the ADR we secured for lunch this coming November.

Last time we ate at BOG for lunch, we did the FP thing and they lost our order. Do they do a better job of tracking it now that it's part of MDE?

That's what our experience at 11:45 on May 19 (I think that's when we went) was like. We went straight to the ordering kiosk, and only had to wait for one person to finish ordering before we could order. The whole process took less than 5 mins for our party of 5 (faster than ordering at pretty much every other CS we ate at).

My experience was similar in Feb. I had pre-ordered online but wasn't on the DP and didn't link my visa to MDE (wanted to pay cash) so was sent to the order line. It took about 20 mins to get through the line, place my order anew at the kiosk/pay.
