Conservative thread: We're still smiling!

my office is sooooo quiet....most of the time its always loud by my desk because mine is right next to the breakroom, but there's hardly anyone here today. Guess I'm gonna log some paid time while reading my book.

Every holiday the company closes the offices at 3pm but pays everyone till 5pm. I'm making a run to walmart/target on my way home so I don't have to lug a child with me :)

DH keeps asking me what I want for Christmas, but I already bought myself what I wanted (and informed him of what he got me shortly after I paid) but he's not liking that answer. Between having Jacob home, healthy, having time to spend on my hobbies and interests, etc. (which what he got me contributes to:goodvibes ) I really don't have anything else I want, other than a clean house, but that would only last a matter of minutes so why bother? I got DH a HUGE bag of his favorite candy, a PS3 game, and Band Of Brothers on Blu-Ray, so he's fairly set. We don't do huge Christmases at our house. I got Electric Quilt 6 software, fabric, and a few odds and ends decorative things for the house. The presents really have never been what Christmas was about for us, so we focus more on other things. We'll track Santa on Google Earth all day, probably watch A Christmas Story (again), The Nativity, which I still haven't seen from start to finish...and listen to GB read the Christmas Story. I have a feeling tomorrow will be spent using some of the art project kits I got the kids for Christmas. I'll probably do alot of cleaning up since it has been kinda slacked off the last week or so.

Looks like DH and I might head out to the deer lease Friday afternoon for the weekend. I don't particularly want to go, I have tons of sewing I'd rather get done but oh well...

I'm sort of in a ho-hum mood today. Don't really want to be at work, I just want to blink and have everything I need to do...done.

i think santa will bring some elves this year...they're gonna clean everybody's house.:santa:

DH got this and sent it to me....seemed fitting to share :) Gotta love political correctnes at it's finest.
Please accept with no obligation, implicit or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice, with total respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, and their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
Also a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2009, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make U.S. great (not to imply that U.S. is necessarily greater than any other country nor is it the only "U.S." in the northern hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, sexual orientation and choice of computer platform of the wishee.
By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wishee actually to implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.
This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

I know what you mean JB about not wanting to lug a kid around with you. :) I'm waiting for DH to get home so I can run to the store for some last minute items before Inlaws decend upon us. One of my last minute items I need is hair coloring. My roots are pretty bad  , and I don't need DD's first Christmas pics showing mommy with roots. :lmao: It's just so nasty outside, I don't want to take her out in this.

I came online to check the status of an order I placed for a gift for DH. It's on the truck coming here now. :worship: Something happened with the delivery. I hope it doesn't come when DH is home.

For Christmas breakfast we have Panettone, traditional Italian sweet bread. MIL makes an icing to drizzle over the top.

In all honesty it gives me heartburn, but I eat it anyway. :rolleyes1

Soarin' I am so happy you made it!!! :woohoo: Have a Dole Whip for me. And have a fantabulous time! :goodvibes

Yeah, work is dead today.........but I'm still busy! I am planning an unrecoverable puter incident in about an hour though......blue screen of death, the whole 9 yards. That will end my work week. :thumbsup2

We love the Panettone bread. I make french toast out of it on Christmas morning for everyone. You gotta try it sometime. Major League Yummo!

Soarin'

Have fun! I do find it slightly ironic that you have not made a bee-line for EPCOT but do admit that we always go to Animal Kingdom on our first day in WDW.

Enjoy.

:)

Guess what? I MADE IT! Yeah yeah yeah, Zip, I know you said leave the phone in the room... but considering our room won't be ready till 3pm... :lmao: We're off to AK! So to all my DisCons- Happy Ramahanukwanzmas and Merry Frickin' Winter! :grouphug:

 You're dad's been driving all night after working all day and now he's going to go to AK? :faint: He'll be asleep on EE. :rotfl:

Have a great time!

I don't know if I'll be back online again until after Christmas, since Merry Christmas isn't PC to say, I thought I'd say:

That would be a lot funnier if we weren't seriously headed in that direction. Yikes!

Well, I'm going to be politically incorrect and say MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

I'm sorry to hear some of you are sitting at work today, though I recall that when I had a job that required me to work Christmas Eve I got a lot done because — of course — there were no bosses there to keep interrupting me! :rotfl:

The weather here (SE Mich.) is frightful, to say the least, as it's raining a cold, drizzly rain. Soarin, I cannot believe that you are in my favorite park at WDW right now! I can just see all my favorite corners of AK in my mind's eye. I LOVE that place. I hope a warm sun is shining down on you, and that the lines are small. Someday, someday, someday I'm going to be at WDW over Christmas, preferably at the Wilderness Lodge, and it will be spectacular! Someday…

Quote of the year!

http://www.mediaresearch.org/notablequotables/bestof/2008/

Co-anchor Chris Matthews: “I have to tell you, you know, it’s part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama’s speech. My — I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don’t have that too often.
”
Co-anchor Keith Olbermann: “Steady.”
Matthews: “No, seriously. It’s a dramatic event. He speaks about America in a way that has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with the feeling we have about our country. And that is an objective assessment.”
— Exchange during MSNBC’s coverage of the Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. primaries, February 12.

Good times. Good times.

I do realize that someday in the near future, our children (for those of us who are "selfish" enough to hog up all that carbon by procreating) are going to look back on this time period......and refer to it as "The Age of Idiots"......

BUT, I will be able to smile....and look into their intelligent eyes and say,

"Kids, I know but I laughed at them the entire time!"

:)

I often think of what a field day history will have with these fools. I hope the likes of Chrissy Matthews lives long enough to see what a national embarrassment his television career has been. Why, just thinking about all the ridicule he's in store for sends a thrill down my…well, you get the idea. :rotfl:

Hey, don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure your kids will understand that you all had just been misinformed.

Have a great Christmas. Or whatever you celebrate.
