If you don't show up to ADR is there a fee? I'm going to do my best to be on time, but with the sz. of crowd in tow with me, it might just happen that we don't make it to one at all.
really nothing happens unless it's reserved with cc ( like crt). it's not really a reservation it gets you the next available table ( basically you get the next place in line) so if you don't go it doesn't affect anyone since you don't "get in line" till you get there. fyi they hold it for 20 mins then you go to the end of the line like a walk in if you come later than that.
One tip - if you know ahead of time (even just 20 mins) that you aren't going to make it, pick up any house phone and give dining a call and let them know, that way someone else might be able to get your table sooner.

you don't have a table you get a place in line only if and when you get there so this is not necessary( no need to call and cancel this was explained to us by cms when we calles as we thought we were going to be late or miss our adr)
however if you know before you go to wdw or maybe even afew days before( like now) you are not going to keep some adrs you should cancel because then someone else can schedule them but a few mins before does not help anyone out.
Not to argue with you but it might. I have seen people turned away in line b/c no walkups but they can call dining and get a seating only 15min-1/2hour away. You've got to figure those openings come from some sort of cancellation.

We just got back a couple of weeks ago and were told the following: On the ADR's that needed a credit card to book, there is a cancellation fee if not cancelled within 48 hours.
Also, for example, we booked the Aloha Dinner Show. If we did not cancel within 48 hours, it would be deducted from the dining plan wether we went or not.
i would guess those are from the adrs who do not show up..they keep them for 20 mins since you are supposed to checkin 5 mins pre adr..... if you want to call i'm not stopping anyone just telling you what we were told when we called. free dining probably does make it a little different although we called about Ohana's and that is always booked and turns people away ( according to the manager ) so it seems they would not have said that if it made much of a difference...byw they were turning walk in people away when we got there which was maybe 10 mins after we called.( the boat was full and we thought we would miss our ressie but as it was we were right on time)
i think the main confusion with adrs is people think they are holding a table for you which they are not...so basically your "adr" starts when you check in and you get in line for the next available table for your party size

We've had it work the other way as well, no ADRs (well PSs back then) for Spoodles right before we went down, but checked as we were walking to ESPN and walked right in.
