Connections Shipment Question

Ok, I have a Connections question...

I thought that if the order totaled less than $40 it was supposed to be sent via USPS, and above $40 it would be sent UPS 2nd day. I just ordered 3 Q & C Vouchers and they came UPS 2nd day. My problem with this is that we both work outside the home and no one would ever be here during their delivery hours to sign for them (and they don't let you sign the delivery attempt form and leave it the next time, you actually have to sign).

I deliberately ordered under $40 so that I wouldn't have to mess around with having them hold it at will call at UPS and then go pick it up before they close. I'd be happy ordering one at a time if I was guaranteed they'd just come in the mail. Has anyone ever ordered a small enough amount to not have it delivered UPS?

TIA!

I always order more than $50 and they always come UPS. I have not had to sign for mine, he leaves them by my front door. Normally if you need to sign and wont be home they do allow you to sign the yellow sticky form and they will leave it. Usually the only time they wont is if its a place a driver had a claim filed before. Do you have a neighbor who could sign for it?

I live in Canada & they won't ship to me but I've had a wonderful diser offer to have them sent to them & then they'll forword them to me.
My question: if I sign up & pay with my Amex, & state their address for shipment (as if it was mine)...Is there going to be a problem with the other diser SIGNING for my vouchers...are they going to question the different names?

Thanks
Wendy

No that shouldnt be a problem. The USP guys just get the signature of whoever anwers the door...it doesnt have to be the person to whom it is addressed to.
They will let you sign up in Canada but wont ship them there?? That sucks.

no, they won't let us sign up in Canada, but I have a NEW address in the States:smooth: , thanks to this board.

I have ordered quite a few gift certificates etc., at different times over the past months and they are over $50--shipped ups 2nd day and left in my side door. The only pkg. I needed to sign was when I ordered 7 day passes. Maybe the dollar amount--over $100 matters??

Some area's are driver release--meaning the driver will just leave your package for you. Others require a signature but normally if you sign the yellow slip and ask them to leave the package they will--unless there has been a claim made at the address about a previously unrec'd package then they will not release unless someone is there to sign. Im not saying a prior claim is why they are not leaving the package, its just one instance that they will not.

My meal vouchers have always been sent by UPS two day and i have never ordered over $50 , now i just ordered $20 in planet hollywood gc`s and they just came today by USPS,when i order a combination of meal vouchers and gift certificates they come by UPS

Well, I just picked up our vouchers and I asked the woman at UPS about driver release and she told me (and showed me on her screen) where it comes from the shipper stating that a signature is necessary and she said that they are no longer able to have the post-it form signed to release a "signature required" package.

UPS leaves regular packages all the time with no problem and I don't live in a seedy neighborhood or anything, so I believe that it truly is coming from the shipper (Connections) and not from UPS policy. Maybe Connections has different policies for different zip codes? Hmmm... although, we have lived in our house only 3 years and I know the previous owner did a lot of catalog shopping (I'm still getting Pottery Barn catalogs in her name, even though I've ordered since then!)- I wonder if she had ever filed a claim? Interesting.

Anyway, bottom line is that I think in the future I will have them delivered to the office (if they'll do that) otherwise, they are really more hassle than they're worth for me.

That sucks they require your signature. I dont have to sign for mine--even though with 2 small ones seems like I'm ALWAYS home, lol. I normally order over $50 in vouchers. I like to keep spare ones on hand-- like Toys R US, Target, Red Lobster so I can just go when I see a good sale or get a coupon. I think they will only deliver to your home but maybe you can tell your driver to come by later. A lot of the guys save their ressie's for the end of the day--and unforunately are out late pretty often.
