.... they changed our itinerary (Delta) and they have given us only 30 minutes to connect at Logan in Boston. My problem is, I could make them change it, but then we would have an hour and a half between flights and we'd have to wait with our ADHD 8 year old.

What would you do? I have only flown twice- advice appreciated! This is November 30th btw.

I got our original flight from our home airport earlier so we will still get in Orlando around 2 pm. Thanks everyone!

All Delta & Song flights are out of Terminal A so it shouldn't be a problem as long as you flight arrives on time.

THANK YOU!!

Yes, All Delta flights are out of terminal A but Terminal A has 2 sides and they are not exactly close together.

If you come in at the A1-12 side and your connection leaves on the A13-22 side you have a fairly long walk from one side to the other. There are moving sidewalks in the underground passageway (like Atlanta) but it still is a long way (I give it at least 10 minutes-not including time to deplane)

If your flight from Maine is delayed, you could be in trouble. I would check with Delta to see if you have a legal connection in Boston.

If they have changed your flights, doesn't that mean that you can get a full refund? I would cancel the flight and fly out of Manchester NH non-stop to Orlando for $59 one way. Manchester is SO easy to use and parking is relatively cheap. Just my 2 cents :)

My travel agent (who didn't book our flights) told me this is NOT a legal connection. Maybe I should call and change it- the thought of waiting around with my son gives me chills though. LOL

We are flying out of Bangor Maine- this airport is VERY close to our home. But thanks for the idea.

I did connecting once in NJ, not by our choice, but due to a snow storm and being stuck in Florida, that's what they gave us, and I think 30 minutes is cutting it way too close and I would change it in a heartbeat!!

Half an hour will be cutting it close. Your flight from Bangor is most likely going to land on the opposite side from where the other flight is going to take off. That really only gives you 15 mins. to get there since they like to close the doors 10-15 mins berfore the flight. I'd talk to Delta to see what they can do. Good luck. Maine :firefight

NO NO NO!!!

I've flown from Maine, through Boston, and think that would be cutting it wAAy too close, especially with a child. Here is an excerpt from a trip report I did in Aug 03.

Anyway, it’s 2:30pm we’re out the door. Mom drops me off at the airport at 2:45pm and since I have no luggage to check, I go straight to gate security and done within 15 minutes. That's wonderful, but now what do I do for the next hour!

We board on-time, and the flight is no where near full. Out of 50 seats, only about 12-15 were full. The Delta/Comair flight from Boston to Portland is a short one. Total flight time is 22 minutes.

Boston proves to be a nightmare! To get to the gate for the Delta/Song flight to Orlando, I have to walk to the center of the terminal, grab dinner to go, wait to go through security, again, and head to my next gate WAY DOWN THE END OF THE HALL. I was supposed to have 2 hours or so between flight, but by time I got to the gate, it was only 40 minutes.

Even when I traveled with parents a while later, it was the same deal. A major pain in the behind!!

My DS (9) is also ADHD and we have never had problems with layovers. Switch your flights and make it an adventure. Check out the gift stand or a food stop. Bring a game along.

We often play, for lack of a better name, the touring plan game, where we make up a touring plan of the parks pretending they are all in one. He selects the first attraction, i select the second and so on.

You will be fine - have an awsome trip!

CHANGE THAT FLIGHT! I just sent you a PM.

Less than 30 days!!!! Woo Hoo for you!

We flew Song to Orlando from Logan 2 weeks ago. As others have said, Delta is in the new terminal A at Logan (Very nice, by the way). Commuter/smaller flights come in at an area pretty far removed from where the other gates are. It is a fairly long walk between the two areas.
I think a 30 minute layover is WAY to short, any delays at all and I think you will be in trouble.
I would change my flight if I was in your situation.
Good Luck.

and if your Maine flight is like our last one ......it lands out in the middle of the runway and you have to go thru security again because you are in a non restricted area....we had an agent waiting for us at the top of the stairs and she said it fast....go here and there and run really fast.......NOPE never again....we do not want any boston changes

Now that Delta is all in Terminal A, you will almost certainly be able to skip security for a transfer. I think the 30 min layover is do-able, but it would certainly be tight. They have special carts for whisking you tight connection folks from the landing gate to the departing gate. That being said, the Song flights have generally begun boarding up to 30 mins ahead of flight time, which would mean that you'd be last on the plane, if you even made it.

But before you go changing flights: How long out is your flight? It is entirely likely that there will be additional schedule changes, which might make your layover in Boston longer, and a lot less tight. If your flight is within the next month, then you should change flights to get a more reasonable connection. If your flight is in, say, April you should hang tight and wait to see how the flight times change.

edited to add:(I notice now that your flight is Nov 30. Wow, that's close! yeah, you have better get talking to Delta and see if they can't get you a better connection. Even if you make it, your luggage likely will not with only 30 mins)

As for the ADHD issue, I would expect waiting in the airport would be preferable to running frantically thru the airport. And tho 90 mins seems long, remember that for the first 15 mins you are likely deplaning from your BGR-BOS flight, it'll take you at least 15 mins to get to the Song gate for the BOS-MCO flight, and they will start boarding the Song flight 30 minutes prior to scheduled takeoff in all likelihood. That leaves you a whopping 30 mins to kill buying drinks, using the rest room, maybe window shopping on your way to the gate. An hour and a half is an excellent connection for Terminal A in Boston.

Good luck!

(also I love the Bangor airport: huge runways, nice manageable terminal, in the heart of my Home State... sigh)

Thanks PumpkinBoy. Sorry you miss Maine!
I'm calling today to see what Delta can do for me!
