Connecting Rooms

For our next trip, we would be looking at possibly getting 2 connecting value rooms. I think I read that Disney would not guarentee this. Has anyone ever had it where connecting rooms were requested and not granted?

Yes. Many people, myself included. There are even reports of not getting them even when told that were "guaranteed by a CM. I have seen reports of folks being placed on different floors and even different buildings.

We've requested connecting many times. Sometimes we get it, sometimes we don't.

The only way to be assured of connecting rooms would be a single adult traveling with 5 or more children. If there are two or more adults they expect the adults to split up between the two rooms to be with the kids. They will try and give you "adjoining" rooms which means that the rooms will be "near" each other. Near could mean next door, across the hall, the same building, the same area, or somewhere in the same resort. There is no predicting room assignments at Disney. Good luck. Cheers!!!!!

And even with multiple children and one adult it is not guaranteed. There is a poster that that very thing happened to!

Connecting rooms are a request only, no matter what else you are told or see on your reservation. It is simply not possible for them to guarantee connecting rooms as they don't block out rooms as they are booked. They can only assign your rooms from the pool they have available at the time.

Have you looked at the family suites at AoA or ASMu? Or a Wilderness Cabin? All of those hold 6 people, and you would be sure of all being together.

Btw, I have multiple times not received my requested connecting rooms. The last time it was me in one room, my adult nephew and his friend in the other. We were even told at the check in desk that our rooms connected, but that mine was still being cleaned. After getting my room number later on, we went back to the resort to find our rooms were next to each other, but did not have the connecting door.

The last time we got two rooms, our request was not granted. We're all adults though, so it wasn't such a big deal, and our rooms WERE next to each other.

As Maxiesmom said, Disney doesn't block connecting rooms as they are requested. Meaning, you could have 260 families requesting connecting rooms at a resort that has 250 connecting room pairs. 10 of those families will be out of luck.

If it's absolutely imperative that you all be together, your only way to guarantee that is to book a single room or suite or villa that will hold your entire party.
