Connecting Rooms Question

We stayed at All Star Sports last year and got 2 rooms that were connected. We're planning on heading back in May, except this time, my adult brother is going to be coming with us. When I called to get a quote the lady (who wasn't friendly at all) said that it was against company policy to put 3 adults in 2 connecting rooms because that "leads to partying". Nevermind the fact we will have 4 children with us also! My question is, has anyone heard of this before? I asked her what if I had 4 adults in 2 rooms, could we do connecting then? She replied back with, "That's different." None of this made sense. Last year we had connecting rooms because of our young children and I realize I can't get a guaranteed connecting rooms, but I thought I could at least put in a request. But she tells me it's against Disney property. So confused....

I am a single mom, I traveled with my twins, my friend and her mom. My friend and her mom had 1 room and the children and I had a second. We got connecting rooms with no problem at all. Definitely call again, or just ask at check in. I think their policy is no guarantees but again all we did was ask politely and we were accommodated.

That was a crazy response from a person from Disney. I have found that some of them seem to know what they are talking about and others do not. Just hang up and call back and hope for a better CM.

I would have laughed at that Cast Member, told them they were incorrect and ask to speak to someone who could actually help and knew the policy instead of making something up. All Disney resorts have connecting rooms and there is no guarantee on getting them - it's just a request which is what you wanted to do. That was a stupid response by someone who either was having a bad day or just doesn't know what she is doing. In either case, call again and you won't have a problem with what you want/need.

Lol. Well, she was having a bad day.

However, their policy IS to make two separate reservations when there are 3+ adults instead of putting two rooms on one reservation. I doubt it has anything to do with partying, lol.

We (family of 4, 2 5yr olds) had connecting rooms with SIL and MIL (adults) at the GF. We requested it no problem. They had us in separate buildings at first, so when we arrived we spoke to them in person at the front desk and they got us connecting rooms with the best view ever. So I would try again, fax it in. And then skip the straight to room at check in idea and go straight to the desk to make sure its all okay. Explain that while kids are sleeping you'd like the option to go next door with the door open to relax or in our case we had one day where we went to Universal and MIL took the kids to MK, so having the connecting door made it easy to go back and forth.

I believe that is true as we've had several trips with more than one room since we needed more. So we had multiple separate reservations, each with a "lead" person but since I had called to make the reservation, it was noted that I could change any of the reservations I wanted and so could each of the "lead" people". While I love making reservations online and some of the Cast Members who answer the phone are not the best, I feel calling even after making an online reservation works the best since you can always call back if you get a less than desirable person. Online stuff doesn't talk back to reinforce what you think you know.

:love1:That's bizarre, we've had connecting rooms at CR plenty of times with 1 adult and 2 kids in one room and 2 adults and 1 kid in the other.:rolleyes1

That response definitely goes on the list of all time worst responses from a phone CM. omg.

I actually am going thru the same situation. I'm going in May for my 30th birthday. Made the reservations back in August and when I saw the discounts were out I called to have them applied to my reservation. I also was required to make 2 different reservations for four adults 2 rooms. I asked the lady if I could have conjoining rooms after she applied the discount for me at All Star Movies Resort. She said she can request it but it cannot be guaranteed and mentioned one of the reasons being because me and my brother don't live at the same address implying they try to accommodate those that live at the same address with conjoining rooms before they take care of others. Funny thing tho is my brother rents out a room in my house so we do live at the same address its just for whatever reason my old address was coming up in the computer for the reservation with my name on it which I later had changed. I guess we will find out in May during check in lol.

That's one of the fallacies circulated around, that if you have a party with the same address you have a better chance of getting connecting rooms. The fact is it makes no difference. I have 2 first hand experiences with this.

Yeah, we went in 2014 with my in-laws. Stayed at WL. I asked for adjoining rooms and we received them. We definitely don't live at the same address. Our reservations were both handled by the same travel agent, so they were linked, but either way our request was granted! However, it was the only room request I made bc we paid extra for a woods view, so I wasn't worried about what we'd be looking at!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: What a hoot! If this were even remotely true that Disney was afraid of "partying" and room damage, they would have cancelled the big tour groups long ago. Absolutely don't get why so many phone CMs feel the need to make stuff up, life would be much more enjoyable to just help folks plan in a happy, non-drama way.

Bunch of hogwash. One trip, I was making all the reservations for a family visit. A nice family reunion. It was as follows:

My husband and I - living in Georgia
My son and his family (wife and two kids) - living in Ohio
My father and stepmother - living in Florida
My mother-in-law and brother-in-law - living in Maryland

So, four rooms in all. Value resort. Got everything I needed but the only rooms I could get were pool side so I did that and then requested a first floor room for my father who was in a wheelchair. Everything was set until.... the next day when I received a phone call saying that I couldn't get a first floor pool room for my dad so I moved his room and my in-laws room over to a standard view. I also asked that all four rooms be put as close together as possible. The Cast Member asked what would be desirable. I kind of laughed since I was a bit surprised with the call and said if the "old folks" were next to each other, that was fine and if the "young folks" had connecting rooms, that would be great. And then we arrived. All four rooms, all standard view, all next to each other. My son's room and ours connected, then it was in-laws and then my dad's. All on the first floor. THE most perfect arraignment for all of us and I hesitate to mention it because others might think it will happen all the time. Just worked out perfectly for us. All four parties in four different states.
