Connecting rooms in Aulani

Hi, All - Never been to Aulani, hoping to book for July. We are a family of 6. My wife and 4 kids.

We usually book 2BRs and that works perfectly. Looks like all 2BRs in Aulani are booked for all of July.

We're getting some conflicting opinions on connecting rooms. One travel agent says that you can book connecting, another says its more of a wish than a guarantee.

I know WDW cannot guarantee connecting rooms, wondering if it is a different policy in Aulani.

We were hoping to rent DVC points and book that way.

Any experience doing this?

You could check dvc availability for the other room types in July, but seems like those fill up right at or before the 7 month mark. The only way I know of to get adjoining rooms would be to book a 2BR lock off (connecting studio and 1BR). You might have better luck calling Aulani and asking about two connecting hotel rooms, which you would not book on dvc points.

There are no connecting DVC studios at Aulani.

So the rooms are laid out in a pattern of Studio next to a one bedroom. That way they can turn those 2 rooms into a 2 bedroom. So there are no 2 studios together to connect.

So, can you book a studio and a one bedroom, or they just consider that a 2 Bedroom and book it that way?

If you can book a studio and a 1BR but not a lock off 2BR it means the studio and 1BR will not connect. But I do not believe Aulani has dedicated studios or 1BR. I am pretty sure they are all lock off. So if the 2BR are gone anything you book will not connect.

ETA: Aulani has 1 dedicated studio, and does have dedicated 2BRs. But all of the 1BR and all of the other studios are in lock-off 2BR configuration.
