Connecting room requests honored?

Has anyone requested connecting rooms and not been given them?

We have reserved 2 rooms at AKL Christmas week. My elderly mother is joining us and will be distressed if we do not have connecting rooms. I am especially concerned because I assume the hotel will be filled to capacity that week. Does faxing to the room assigner really help?

I'm not sure about AKL, but, it definitely makes a difference how crowded they are. One time, my brother and his family made a separate reservation at a different time at ASsports, where we were staying, and they were able to accomodate connecting rooms. Another time, we made the request when making the reservation, and we didn't get it. We also got bumped up to a more deluxe room, since they had no standard rooms available when we checked in.

Most of the resorts are ignoring faxes. Call central reservation and have your requests noted in your reservation.

This past October we were at WL and had connecting rooms with our son and his family. When I had made the res's for all of us, I had the CM note the need for connecting rooms on our res's. Upon checking in, we had connecting rooms!
