Connecting MB in the park

We are staying offsite but like having the MagicBands. We were going to purchase them in advance but the selection at shopDisney has been lacking. If we buy them in the park, will the Castmember be able to link the MagicBands to our MDE right there in the store or will we need to make a trip to guest services? I realize I could do it myself, but it seems a lot easier if Disnet can scan the plastic ticket and MB rather than me entering a long code for eight family members on my phone. Thanks

It will actually likely be faster and easier to do it yourself.

I've had a resort shop CM do that. That one offered to do it for me, and presto! it was done.

True, it's not terribly difficult to do yourself, but my philosophy at WDW is, "I am on vay-kay-SHUN. If I don't absolutely gotta, I ain't gonna."

A possible option to consider if you are flying, is to look for them at the MCO Disney stores in the main terminal. You'll see them in the big atrium after you get off the airport's little monorail/shuttle.

You could then either have the CM in the store activate them or activate them during the 20+min drive/ride to WDW. If you wait until you enter a park, then you would lose park time and you'd have to enter the park at least once- without them. Another option might be to buy them at your hotel or in Disney Springs, but MCO might be easiest/quickest.
