Connecting Flight in Newark - Help Please

We are flying from Orlando to Moncton and have a connecting flight in Newark. I have a few questions. Will we have to clear customs in Newark? What is the airport like? Is it easy to navigate? We have only ever connected in Canada and I am nervous about this...any advice, suggestions etc...We also have a short connection time which the airline said would be no problem...a little over an hour.

I did this run last year, only into Halifax instead of Moncton. You clear customs where you first land on Canadian soil on your return (think of it as the last place they can turn you loose to run around without sending you back )

I found Newark to be a really easy airport. If you have to change terminals the signs for the bus are really well marked. Follow those signs! Don't go back out through security as then you will have a really long walk, and will probably miss your connecting flight because you're standing in line again

Unless I have Terminal A and C mixed up, if you go to the far end of Terminal C you get a nice view of the New York skyline. There's also a really yummy looking fruit smoothie stand down there.

Be aware though, that Newark is famous for delays if the wind gets too much. Something about the direction their runways are laid out. We were delayed 3 hours on our trip which would have been no big deal but I was extremely tired and all i wanted to do was sleep but those seats were horrible!

And if you have a bit of a layover and want something to eat I recommend the Garden State Diner in Terminal C. Decent prices, diner food, 50's music and an all day breakfast. I love having breakfast whe I travel, doesn't matter what time of day!
