conjunctivitis in cats

Help! were planning on taking the cat to the vet on friday. I know its conjunctivitis since our other cats have gotten it before. Any advice on how to make her more confortable? I hate seeing her miserable! TIA

If she's miserable, she needs to be seen tomorrow. Why are you waiting until Friday?

Poor cat. He/she has to suffer for 3 days. Conjunctivitis can be miserable.

If there is discharge, that would likely indicate a bacterial infection. I would put plain (without the pain relief ingredient) neosporin ointment in his/her eyes. My DH actually did this himself (put the neosporin in his own eyes) when he had a delay getting to the doctor for an eye infection.

Use a compress soaked in warm water and wipe the eyes. You can also put saline on the compress to clean the eye. I would avoid putting anything in the eye unless the vet tells you it's okay. Animals can react differently then humans to medicine. Try to keep the eyes clean and clear of goop as much as you can.

I would still CALL your vet tomorrow, ask their advice, and if they say to bring the cat in, then GO. I'm sure they could wait two days for payment if you don't have a credit card to pay them immediately.

And even if they can't, call THEM to ask what you should do before Friday. They will give you the best advice if it CAN wait. And if it can't, hopefully they will work with you so your cat doesn't have to suffer. I hate to hear of animals suffering for things like this.
