Congress concerned over MagicBand security issues..

This is very interesting. I can't wait to read the discussion ;).

Sounds like there is a dis'er in congress who has the power to get some straight answers out of disney!! ;-)

I wondering if the findings will be made public..

I am really glad that there is not any important business that congress need to worry about.

Several of the questions are answered in Disney's FAQ's, so that stuff is already public knowledge. Like how the band doesn't have info other than the identifier that Disney's systems recognize.

The info about marketing to children (I think their response will be that they will market to the adult of the party) will be interesting as will the data sharing questions.

You know it's just because Rep Markey wants to make dining reservations for his March trip and doesn't know if he can book 3 FP+ or 4. ;)

I love sec 1b!
If you opt. Out will you have a disadvantage and have to wait in longer lines?

I'm actually quite glad they did this. I am guessing we'll never see the response that Disney sends to Congress, however. I'd like to know all the answers to these questions myself.

Just a quick note.. Markey's committee is in charged with this sort of stuff.. so this is his job.. and it's not just that some store or small town group or something is doing it. Disney sees more people every day than most landmarks/monuments/mountains see in an entire year of visitation.

Yeah, hate to say it, but a few of us have expressed this same concern... It would be nice if this made the news... It's time to wake up the little lambs - Off to slaughter...

Agreed - many of those seem to be pretty important. Congress protects the rights of its citizens - good for them.

Yes and no.. disney is VERY vague.. And T&c isn't much a big help..

The congressman looked like he made sure disney couldn't be vague.. Just by the questions he ask..

I would think that targeted marketing to children under 12 would be a concern and I'm glad someone in government is looking at it.

I'd love to see the answers to all those questions.

:lmao:

My initial reaction was COME ON! Congress couldn't find its way out of a paper bag with two hands a flashlight and they're writing letters about this?! But now I see the representative is from a small caucus whose job it is to monitor and protect the privacy of US citizens (bit of a oxymoron really, but still). So....I guess he raises valid concerns?

You both do know Congress is concerned with a wide range of issues, right? Not just the federal budget and gun control? The bipartisan privacy caucus of which Markey is a co-chair handles issues regarding corporate use of personal information, issues exactly like this one.

Citizens aren't forced to go to wdw so if they have a big problem with their policy and procedures then vacation some where else. I wish our government would care a little less about trivial things and more about serious issues like I don't know a budget!
