Confusion!!

Hey all....

We're WDW veterans, and we're planning our very first ever trip to Southern California this August! As part of a two and a half week tour of the SW, we, naturally, will be including Disneyland!

Our trip plans will only allow for a relatively short time in Disneyland-two full days in the Parks. And to be honest, after reading the boards here and in other places, I'm still just a bit confused about getting the best rates, etc.

Here's the current plan:

We're fortunate in that it looks like we'll be there during "HoJo entertainment rate" dates. We definitely want to stay within walking distance of the parks, and HoJo seems to be a reasonably priced alternative. Unfortunately, the Disney hotels are just too far out of our budget! Unless, of course, somebody knows a way to get significantly better rates that I've just been unable to uncover thus far.

And it looks like we'll just end up purchasing four two-day Park Hoppers online before we go. We're not planning on being in LA/SanDiego long enough to be able to take advantage of the SC CityPass.

Does the HoJo/Online ticket combo seem like the most cost effective for Mid-August?

Any chance of scoring less expensive tix on eBay and use them legitimately?

Technically you aren't supposed to use tickets that other people have used (non-transferable) which are what most EBay tickets are. However if you can find unused EBay tickets, you might be able to find a deal. Realistically there aren't that many discounts on 2 day tickets. Check here for any discounts you can possibly take advantage of:

Good luck in your planning! DL is a great experience, similar yet very different than WDW. 2 days should be good - but of course if you could squeeze in an extra day, that would be even better! Do you have the entertainment book? If you do own your local version, you can access hotel specials online at their website as a starting place.
