Confusing myself now.....points: borrowing and buying

I currently have 117 points available 8/1 but need 148 for the room I want to book. Am I correct that I can use the 117, buy 24 and then only borrow the remaining 7 needed? And to take it a step further....if I need to change the reservation to one less day....can I have the points in my current use year put back in order to be able to bank them INSTEAD of having the 7 borrowed go into holding.

Yes, you can do that as long as you are booking 7 months or less from check in. Can't get the one time points during home priority booking.

And , if you do drop a day at least 31 days in advance, you can ask those to be the current UY points so they can be banked as long as you are still in the banking window.
