when you get the disney provided transportation from the airport, do you get a grocerie store stop?
or is that only other companies?

this is my DD:cheer2: Emma

No, Magical Express is a full size motorcoach so that wouldn't work. I like to use a town car service, especially on shorter trips since you get there faster.

Last trip we used ****** transportation service; it was truly wonderful and well worth the extra money. Saved major time, aggravation, and got the grocery stop we needed.

Try gardengrocer.com. We used them just last week and they were great! That way you can shop from home and just have it delivered to your resort. No stopping and dragging back to the hotel. They charge a $12 delivery fee. I found that very reasonable considering how much we ordered. (heck, the 2 cases of water alone justified it!).

I'd kill Disney if they made us stop at Dominicks on my way to Wilderness Lodge. :rotfl:

"This is Pop Century folks, next stop will be Dominicks, oh and I've gotta pick up a prescription at Walgreens, then Wilderness Lodge. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your vacation!"

Use a car/driver service. That is what we did. It was around $100 round trip. Our driver met us at the airport (holding one of those cool sings with your name on it ;-).

He stopped at a grocery store and provided ALOT of information about Disney. Orlando, etc. The same driver took us back to the airport - pulled right up to drop off.

We will certainly do that again when we return next year.

Another possibility is using a towncar service with grocery stop from MCO to WDW and DME on the return to the airport. You don't have to use it round trip. The towncar service is a bit more expensive one way--probably $60 or $65 rather than 50% of the roundtrip fare.

I would use Magical Express and get groceries delivered. It will save money and time.

Yeah, I third (fourth? fifth? eighth?) the suggestion to use Magical Express and get a grocery order delivered.

See www.wegoshop.com, www.gardengrocer.com, www.goodings.com - in addition to saving over $100 (even accounting for service charge), you save because you are not subject to impulse buys; plus, you're not rushing around an unfamiliar supermarket with only a minimal amount of time to shop, including checking out.

I disagree that a car service gets you to your resort faster than DME can. The time trade-off is that with DME you don't have to wait for your luggage at baggage claim. DME and a car service will tend to get you there at about the same time.

I always advise people to choose on the level of service they want and how much they want to pay, since the time will be about the same either way.

And if you use a car service and make a grocery stop, it's almost impossible to do all that faster than a DME ride and a grocery delivery. 99 times out of 100, DME will be faster to your resort than if you take a car service AND make a grocery stop.

I used Gooding's for delivery twice ... so convenient! I hate the idea of spending precious vacation time wandering around a strange supermarket trying to find where they have certain items, and then waiting in line, etc.

For almost the same as the tip I give to my towncar driver, I can get my groceries delivered to my resort. I normally tip my driver about $25, on top of the over $100 charge. But, for my grocery delivery, there is a $12 delivery charge and I add a $5 tip. And, I don't have to waste time shopping in an unfamilier store, I don't have to lug the groceries around.

Which is faster? This has been my experience to date...deplaning to resort checkin.....
with checked luggage....
DME...about 70 mins (usually about an hour but one longer trip puts the average at 70 mins)
Towncar....55-60 mins
carryon only...
DME....same, about 60 mins
Towncar...45 mins.

If you have checked luggage, you will add about 15-20 mins to your time, then about 5-10 mins for the driver to get the car and load it.

Now, I always use DME and order my groceries from gardengrocer.com.

I would use DME and have groceries delivered. We used to stop at Albertsons along the way. Even with a list we just wandered through the grocery story and kept saying do you think we might need this or that. We didn't need any of it and it went to waste. Now we use Wegoshop.com (Marge). It is a wonderful service and we can have our groceries including adult beverages delivered when we want. We send a list 4-6 weeks ahead of time and everything is there when we want it. Now I can't imagine getting groceries and especially water any other way. :)

Vacation time is precious. Do your shopping online before you leave and spend every minute at WDW enjoying yourself!
