Confused - VA Holidays flydrive question.

Bet this is a stupid question!

Looking to go to Florida for 3 weeks next year, just waiting for Continental and Virgin to release flights for June/July. Put in our dates for VA Holidays flydrive for the two and three weeks, but noticed that there was no price increase for the car. It was the same price for 2 weeks as it was for 3 weeks in the total price.

That can't be right, so what am I missing or have I done something stupid?

It also said you would have to return the car by 12 midday, so does that mean you would have to pay extra for the extra few hours as flights wouldn't leave until later in the day.

Hmm, the thing about turning in the carhire at 12 midday sounds really odd - with carhire the clock starts ticking from the moment the contract is printed and signed on collection, I've never specifically heard of a pre-set time. Maybe they put that just because they felt they had to put some sort of time as guidance.

Anyhow, I'd not overly worry that bit. If you pick up the car at 5pm then that's what time it has to be back by on the last day.

As for the actual pricing I can't really help with that (though I can speculate), I have a very vague memory that Virgin offer 'Free carhire' (ha!) for a single week, but if you are staying for longer you have to manually extend the number of nights for it to cover the whole trip, it won't do it automatically for you. Might it be something like that?

I'm guessing the 'free' hire car with the flydrive is 'free' whether you go for two weeks or three.

Obviously the insurance will be more for three weeks

You may find that not taking the Virgin car and arranging you own car hire may work out cheaper

make sure you change the dates on the car hire screen as they only give it free for 1 week!!!! we fell into this trap you have to go into the car options and change the return date

That's right - you have to add on the extra days and I always change the time to drop off the car
