Confused - problems at VWL?

I just spoke with some friends who just got back from VWL. I had made them a ressie using my points for 1 night in a studio. When they arrived they were told they hadn't called in a credit card number to confirm to ressie ???? so there were no studios available. They had their confirmation letter and Disney came through and upgraded them to a one bedroom.

Happy ending (and they LOVED the one bedroom and VWL) but since when do we need to call in a credit card number to confirm? Has anyone else had this happen?
 
:( We are renting points and have the confirmaiton letter too. I hope this doesn't happen to us. No one mentioned calling in a credit card. If we get there and there are no 2 bedrooms available, the next upgrade would be a grand villa! I can dream can't I?;)
 
I'm quite certain I've never used a credit card to guarantee a DVC room!!! I don't know what the desk staff was talking about!! I assume they OVERBOOKED the studios & that's why there were no studios!! Not because of any credit card problem :confused: Thankfully your friends did have that confirmation, otherwise I'm sure that would have been quite a scene!!
 
Based on some of the recent posts about VWL, it sounds as though some of the CMs need some additional training on DVC. They sound very confused. Hope the managers fix the problem soon.

Okay, this is starting to make me worry - I have booked my dd and her dh into WLV for a November stay. I sure hope that DVC has their act together by then - they don't want to deal with my dd if they mess up their ressies!
 
I wouldn't worry, WLV is a great resort and there will be some growing pains. I'm sure these glitches will be dealt with soon. It's still the minority that have these type of things happen.
