Confused on Transfers

I did a search but just want to make sure I understand transfers. I have BLT points and Aulani points. Can I do one transfer per resort that I have points at, or is it one transfer per UY per member? Both of my resorts are December UY but are titled exactly the same way if that makes any sense. Thanks!

I think I found my answer in a search. I can only transfer once per year per membership, so even though I have two resorts, since they are the same UY and membership number, I can only do one transfer in or out per year, right? Just making sure. Thanks!

1) i believe (but hopefully someone else will confirm or correct me) that you can transfer your aulani and BLT pts separately. so if you needed to transfer in BLT pts to your BLT contract and also transfer out aulani pts from your aulani contact, my understanding is that you can do that.

2) just to be clear: if both contracts are under the same member number, you would not need to transfer pts between the contracts. you can book a single night using pts from both contracts at the 7 month window without using a transfer.

I'm wanting to transfer points to someone else. I already transferred some of my 2012 BLT points, but now I'd like to transfer some of my 2012 Aulani points. Can I do that? They are both under the same membership number. Thanks!

It's one transfer per membership, per Use Year. If you've already transferred from/to one contract, that is your one transfer for the Use Year from which the points originated.

For example, we have one membership number with one contract at BLT and one at BWV, both with Feb UYs. But we have another contract with an August UY and membership number at BWV. We can transfer in or out of both memberships once per use year. If we transfer points from one membership number to another, MS generally doesn't count it as one of our transfers.

What I didn't realize and what really surprised me was that you can transfer points twice in one year as long as they're from different use years. For example, this month I transferred 2013 points in to our Feb. UY contract from another member and then transferred 2014 points into the same account, just a few weeks apart.

I had no idea we could do this! I didn't even know members could transfer points from their next UY without borrowing them. I was prepared to transfer them into the August account, but they're Feb. points, so this helps keep everything straight.

And they show up when I sign into the membership site!

Although it's more complicated to keep 2 UYs straight, having two memberships to transfer into is a huge advantage for people like us, who are always point-poor. We're considering buying more points, but at our ages -- 67 and 62-- we'd have to use them for around 10 years to reach the break-even point, factoring in yearly MF.

We're not sure we'll be going to Disney this much in 10 years, plus our grandkids will be much older and probably not interested in going as much either.

I just originally assumed that if you had points at two resorts, you'd be able to do one transfer for each one. I knew I shouldn't assume.

If they are the same membership number, there is no need to transfer. BLT points will always be BLT points and never morph into Aulani points and vice versa. You can use Aulani points and BLT points for any reservation at seven months out, but you can only use Aulani at Aulani and BLT at BLT at 11 months out.

You only need to transfer if the membership number is different. Like 12345.001 and 23456.001. If they are 12345.001 and 12345.002, they are on one membership and no transfer is needed.

I have two separate memberships. One Sept, one Dec, so they have to be separate. We often transfer the Dec points into the Sept contract because they are both OKW and it makes booking easier. Unless I need to borrow as well as use current points since you cannot borrow transferred points. In that case, I make two different reservations and ask for them to be linked.

Correct. If you already transferred out during this UY, you cannot transfer out again. Or transfer in.
