Confused on these hotel rules

I am a bit puzzled. Our first plan was to get a standard room at RPR for $167 (AAA rate). However, there will be 2 adults and 2 seventeen-year-old boys. I am thinking we will be much to cramped so I was going to book the King suite for $271. This is nice as it has a separate bedroom with a door. This way the boys can stay up later and watch TV or talk or whatever with out bothering us, as we would be in the bedroom. I called to book this and I was told by reservations that we cannot have 4 in a king suite for fire regulations. I am confused because the king suite is twice the size of a standard room and in a standard room they will let you have 5 (with a roll-a-way) in the room but the king suite only allows 3 in a room and cannot get a roll-a-way. Any thoughts on this?

Totally makes me crazy, but , yes, its true. Someone said once its hotel regulations (fla). I'm not sure. You can't "fudge" on this as you would only get 3 keys for fotl. For what its worth, I did RPR with 5 in a room and we lived, actually no one but me thought it was a problem at all. You wont be in the room much...its too wonderful down by that pool!

They do have suites that hold more at HRH and PBH if you want to switch hotels. Also HRH has deluxe rooms that are larger, but arent a suite (no separate bedroom)

Actually, I do not think the fotl pass is that important to ME as I only go on two rides. The Spiderman ride and the Back to the future ride. I do not like or never did like roller coaster type rides and the last time we went to Universal I only went on the above two rides, that was it. In reality buying the park pass is sort of a waste for me for this reason; however, I like to spend the time at the park with my family so I obviously have to pay for the park pass. As for the rest of my family the fotl pass is priceless.

The other reason I would like the separate room is one of the 17-year-old boys staying with us is my son’s friend. I think he (the friend) and I would appreciate the privacy of the separate room.

I did inquire about this, however, the price is out of our range as we were pushing it with the King suite at RPR. I do appreciate the suggestion though.

I've stayed in a King Suite at RPR and I cant see how 2 17 year old males could share that pullout couch. It isnt large enough for two. Two adult sized people would not be comfortable. There isnt enough room in either of the two rooms of that suite to fit a roll away thats why I believe its coded for "3". You would be much better off if you could swing 2 connecting standard rooms. I dont know your dates but perhaps the APH rate is available. I have seen this rate as low at $129 a night certain times of the year.

If that isnt to your liking you can purchase through the website. The PAP is the one one needed to get the discounts. Aside from your room discount you are entitled to restaurant and shopping discounts. Parking at the parks is also free with the PAP.

not to be nosy or anything , but why do you only ride these two rides?? you don't do Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, MIB, T23D, Jaws, Cat in the Hat or JPRA? These are as mild as Spiderman and BTTF......just curious because you are missing SO much! All that much MORE fun you could be having w/ your family!
