Oh...I think I've done something dumb...we have 8 nights booked Saratoga. (Aug 22-aug 30) We were going to come just 7 nights so I wait listed 23-30 at boardwalk earlier on. (Standard studio) Because we really need the 8 I also wait listed the 8 nights in Bw pool/garden view. It w suggested to me that if I change my 7 night wait list (standard) to 8 I go to the bottom of the wait list... Am I crazy to stay on wait list for 7 nights and then if I get it,book anywhere DVC for first night? Problem is aug 22 for some reason has not a studio to be found....is this unusual? I don't have a lot of experience w wait lists and bookings...could it be if I forfeit my 8 booked nights at Saratoga I may end up with no where to stay on the 22nd? Mature advice? Please :) what we u do? I didn't really want to use as many points as it takes for pool/ garden view but will if it is more possible than ending up a DVC squatter aug 22.

We had a similar issue with Beach Club Villas where for some reason I couldn't get the first night. I didn't want to pay the full price, so we ended up staying off property for the first night. Since Florida kids will be headed back to school in the next few weeks prices may be coming down. We like the Embassy Suites in LBV, but I am sure there several other hotels similar. I guess the one challenge would be if you will have a car to make it easy to switch between hotels. Good luck!

To be really honest I think the odds of even the 7 nights in a standard studio coming through now are pretty slim. A 7 day waitlist is hard to fill because all 7 days need to become available at the same time. You are less than a month out now. I just don't see it happening. The 8 nights in a pool/garden might be a teensy bit better odds because there are more pool/garden rooms but I don't see 8 nights becoming available all at once either. Most cancellations would have happened by 31 days out. Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer. Hope I am wrong!

I don't mind the 'Debbie Downer' response...Its DVC reality/ experience wisdom that I need...Thanks :) Truly, anywhere in Disney World is awesome...its all a blessing :):thumbsup2

Now that August the 22nd is less than 31 days away I'd stick with SSR because the chances of anything coming through are so slim.

Generally wait lists are set up to cancel an existing reservation if the wait list comes through. However, if your waitlist is for fewer nights than your existing reservation, I think you can have it set up so it only cancels the 7 nights covered by the waitlist coming through, and you would still have August 22nd at SSR.
You may want to call MS and see if that is how your current BWV SV waitlist is set up, or if not, can they change it to that set up without moving you to the bottom of the list.
Others may have a better understanding, so please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for all the great advice. i called MS and i did leave my 7 night waitlist but we added a note in the waitlist that said that i still required the 1 night at Saratoga if indeed it came through..its all great whatever happens :woohoo:

Keep checking on line for the 1 night you really need. It may become available for an online reservation and may be snatched up prior to filling your wait list request.

Canada, The way the world ought to be.
Families that are happy to be anywhere at Disneyworld is IMHO what DVC is all about.

Here is hoping your BWV SV waitlist comes through. :welcome:
