No matter how hard I try I can't figure out how they arrived at the total price for a 4/3 promotion I recently booked. Can someone attempt to break it down?

Caribbean Beach - Peak Season, Preferred Room
Rack rate = $220/nt (5 nites Su-Th), $235/nt (2 nites Fr-Sa)

7-day MWY tix (no hopper or other options), 2 adult, 1 teen (same price as adult?), 1 child (age 3-9)

Total quote = $1,937.33

Hopefully someone will enjoy this word problem because I'm stumped. My number consistently comes out higher by about the difference between an adult and child 7-day MYW. The ressie shows the correct ages.

You need to factor in the 12.5% room tax.

Plus they average the room price over the entire trip.

So take 220 X5 + 235 X 2 =1570 add 12.5% tax= 1766.25 total room

Average that over 7 nights = 252.32 a night.

Your savings is 3 X 252.32 + 9.98 X 4 (tickets) = $796.88

I don't have the ticket prices in front of me to add it all up, but hopefully this helps.

Ahhhhhh, I didn't factor in the $9.98 per MYW ticket savings. I wasn't aware WDW discounted those themselves,; I thought that was only places like Undercover Tourist, Maple Leaf, etc.

Where do they mention the savings on the MYW tix???

I was also very curious about this so I tried to crunch the numbers. My package spans 2 "seasons" and it does not work out to the average room rate at all. I really have not been able to calculate it. I figured the price of a 7 day base ticket was $240.74. But how they calculated the room rate is still a mystery to me.

I just figured out the mistake I was making. It is exactly the average rate. Thanks

I believe it is calculated as the 4 most expensive nights of your stay plus the price of 4 day base tickets:

2 x $230 (+12.5% tax) = $517.5 (2 days at weekend rack rate)
+
2 x $220 (+12.5% tax) = $495 (2 days at base rack rate)
+
3 x $239.63 = $718.89 (3 adult x 4 day base passes + tax)
+
1 x $204.48 = $204.48 (1 child x 4 day base pass + tax)

Total = $1,935.87
(I must not have the tax figured right or something)

So your suggesting that with the 4/3 promotion, they only charge you for a 4-day MYW base ticket, instead of a 7-day MYW? I guess that could be but it doesn't say that anywhere that I saw.

Description from The Disney 'Specials' website:

Buy a non-discounted 4-night/4-day Magic Your Way Vacation Package at select Disney Moderate, Disney Deluxe or Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts and enjoy 3 more nights with tickets, free.

Description from Mousesavers:

You must buy a package that includes at least 4 nights' accommodations at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel plus minimum 4-day Magic Your Way Base Tickets to qualify for the 3 FREE nights and the 3 extra days on your tickets.

The above descriptions are what I based my calculations on.

Nice work!!! I definately missed the part of the description that you only pay for a 4-day MYW ticket. Now I see it!
