We have just decided to book a last minute trip (well last minute for us we are normally planning for a year) in December. Originally we had decided to stay at Newport Bay Hotel as we stayed here in 2006 and were upgraded from a Lakeside Room to Admirals floor and at this time there were lots of extras that came with this.
We had a fantastic time and thought it was excellent value for money so decided that we would stay here. I have done a little research and found out that most of the perks that we really enjoyed, seperate breakfast, chocolate on the pillows, welcome chocolate and bath robes now do not exist so we decided it was not worth paying the extra and we would just have a lakeside room.
Then for some unknown reason i looked at the price to stay at the New York hotel instead where we stayed last year and bizarrely found that a non lakeside room at the New York is £16 cheaper for the stay than a lakeside Newport Bay room.
Last year at New York Hotel we had chocolates on the pillows and turn down service, free bottle of water, bath robes and slippers, hot breakfast every day and a welcome gift.
The only reason we chose Newport Bay over New York is the price as last time it was a couple of hundred more to stay at New York.
Basically what i'm asking is am i right in thinking New York is a better option for the price?
What would you do?
