My Brother was coming with us to disney while on the free dining next month. Now he says he cant come but wants to pay me for his tickets anyway.( I told him I could get his ticket off the room key and put on paper.) My question.
Since I have to buy him a ticket anyway, can I just leave him on my package and use his free dining credits?
Can't I just tell them he got sick or whatever last minute but wants his tickets to use later?
If we can use his credits can we tell the waiter we are on ddp but want to pay oop for the kids meal? :confused3

in August of 2009, we had a simular situation. One person in our party backed out last minute. After much deliberation, we decided to not cancel his reservation and just use his dining credits. We checked in, just like he was with us and enjoyed extra meals with his dining credits. No one ever asked, no one ever questioned and we did share meals at some of the restraunts. Not sure about the kids meal credits since all of our family members were all considered Disney adults. Hope this helps a little.

It is against DDP policy to do what you are suggesting. This is one of the reasons that Disney will sometimes make all persons on the plan/reservation be there to check in. So they can avoid people having phantom guests on their reservations. You should take him off since you know he will not be there. If he wants a ticket you can order it online or purchase one for him while you are there.

I called and them told me to just leave it. So I guess even employees don't always go by the book. I was going to cost me a fee to remove him cause it lowers the price of our package within the 45 day window. I also cannot get the dining reservations changed, I would have to cancel then hope the to book the same thing right back with one less person. Well I'm not about to lose Chef Mickey, Ohanas and Crystal Palace over him not going besides if I know him 2 weeks before we leave he'll want to go again!

If it is against DDP policy, why would both the CM's that I called and talked to about how much it would cost to change my ressie since we were only 3-4days away from our trip both suggest we just keep t and enjoy his dining credits??? I would NEVER do anything against policy DDP or Disney and I would have never even thought to do that if the CM would not have suggested it.

That makes no sense that they would work for Disney and suggest that we go against policy:confused3

CM's often suggest things that are technically against policy. The policy is that everyone on the reservation must have the same package. It is also policy that must actually be there using the package.
I understand that if you are 3-4 days out, changing would be a pain and thus not worth going thru. But OP is a month out and KNOWS that her brother will not be there. There is plenty of time to change the ressie for the resort. Now personally, I would not change my dining ressies to say one less person. I would just show up with one less person. But I would change my resort/package ressie to reflect the people actually there. I do know the policies since I am a Disney certified travel agent. OP can choose to do what she wants but policy states that her brother needs to be there for the free dining.

I'd leave it, especially since you think it's a possibility he will change his mind again. If he doesn't go you can use this extra credits and pay OOP for any kids meals not covered.
