confused about the rates for resort rooms

Sorry if I seem so but I want to figure out how to find the best price to stay at a WDW resort hotel.

I see that there is a KHP code for room only rates, which is what we want.

it states:
# Select Disney Moderate Resorts: from $109 per night
# Select Disney Deluxe Resorts: from $179 per night

ok, that sounds great!!! So how do I find this info out? How can I find a room that is deluxe for $179? I have been on the phone 2x with WDW reserv. & using that code, the deluxe rooms were still about 299. I was on phone for about 20 min & I kept having to "steer" the conversation, like..."ok can you check wilderness? what is the best rate at that hotel?"

So I guess in this day & age, I am much more used to just looking on line & trying to find rates for hotels/etc...but on the WDW it doesn't seem to just spell it out. Like you can't just type in what days you will be traveling & then you can't see the prices of the hotels? Or can you & am I just totally missing something?

I don't really like doing this by phone b.c I just like having all the prices options laid out in front of me so I can then browse amenities...etc..

Unfortunately, with a code you're only choice is to call Disney and get a good CM.

If you're looking for the lowest deluxe rate, you have to check AKL or WL, ask for the cheapest room, and find out when you need to stay to get that rate.

For me, we can't ever stay at the cheapest time, so we end up paying more than the code info says. My guess is that the rate has very limited availability and dates and that's why you're not finding them.

To get that rate at a Deluxe resort, you must choose either Animal Kingdom Lodge or The Wilderness Lodge during Value season. You can go to mousesavers.com to check the dates for Value season. Of course, the rates are based on availability (only a certain # of rooms available at that price).

Disneyworld.com also has a rate calendar that is very helpful. If you go to special offers at the bottom of the page, make sure you click on room only rates.... it will show you what the discount is for that period with a calendar to make sure you are getting the right dates on there. It looks like the $179 offer you mentioned is on the Rooms section, 1st option "Take a Disney Holiday and Save Big....."

After you get to that page click on the Deluxe tab. But pp is correct, certain months & AKL or WL
