Confused about the new AP MagicBands....

I have been able to book FP+s for May...AP holder, but no trip scheduled until June 1.
But, I have a question...if you have multiple MBs..already have a generic grey one and a red one, and have two more trips planned, so MBs for those in addition to my AP MB. Are they are usable? On the same trip? I have a friend who is in pretty much the same situation and she was planning on bringing all her MBs and color coordinating with her outfits each day!! Will that work? Seems a bit excessive to me.

All MBs can be used, regardless when you got them. There is nothing on the magic band, it is just a link to whatever is in your My Disney Experience account.

If you don't want any more MB's then just don't customize them. Disney's computer system is obviously not "programmed" to determine who already has a band, because it is just easier to send everyone a band who is eligible.

I used my Jan trip MB and My Feb Trip MB interchangeably in January and for some reason I just used my January Band during Feb Trip. I'm to point that if I book 2 more stays I'll have all the MB colors.

I posted this questions in another thread, and I think the conclusion was that the jury was still out... but maybe someone here might know.

We have APs AND an onsite reservation for 11 days. Does that mean that 60 days out we'll be able to make FP+ reservations for:
a) only 7 days until we start using them OR
b) all 11 days because of the onsite stay?

I would assume that b) makes more sense -- would be odd to "penalize" us for having both, but can't find anything stated by Disney to clarify... :confused3

To my question about this earlier, just saw this:

For a Passholder staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, the window remains at 60 days in advance of check-in, where FastPass+ reservations can be held for 7 days or the length of the hotel stay.

Suppose you are an AP holder who doesn't live locally and never stays off-property. Since you will already be getting MB's every time you visit by virtue of being a resort guest, is there any point in getting the AP MB's? I'm trying to see an advantage, and I can't come up with one.

There is no advantage. It's just that WDW has not come up with a way for anyone to decline to receive magic bands. They will send you one even if you don't customize it; it'll just be a gray one.

There's no way they will ensure that AP holders will only be able to use their AP bands because you can use ANY band that is registered to you and active on your MDX account. Nothing is stored on the bands themselves.

I have 8 bands including the AP one. Mostly from split stays, because you still can't decline them on any resort stay. I believe that if you don't customize them or give them a shipping address and wait for them to offer you your bands at check-in, then you can decline them. But not until then.

Yes. Any band that is registered to you and has not been deactivated in MDX by you should still work, unless there is something wrong with it. If someone wants to color coordinate their bands each day, and they've acquired one of each color, they can do that. The only thing I think they should do is use each of the bands to open the resort door the first day, because I understand they may not all work if you do not use them to open the door right away.

That will be me! I don't want the pink, so I'll have them all by Nov!

Urgh. The waste involved with this system is off-putting. I can only hope it is offset by the fact that Disney isn't printing hundreds of thousands of paper FastPasses per day anymore.
