Confused about Reservation Dates

How come most of the time I hear about the 90 day mark and on some websites it states you can make reservations 180 days out? Even on the Reservation Date Calculator, it tells you the 180 day mark.
What restaurants would that be good for?

All dining reservations have been changed to 90 days as of mid-March 2009.

The only exceptions are Grand Gatherings activities and Cirque du Soleil.

So even holidays like Thanksgiving everyone is at 90 days out (or 90+10, which I understand)?

Yes, that's correct- all the time.

If you're referring to a date calculator here on the DIS/wdwinfo.com, if you scroll further down the page there will be displays showing what, if any, reservations can be made at 180 days.
