Hi all! We are hoping to spend a few days at the Beach Club, two main reasons, (1) close to Epcot (2) the pool!

I was under the impression that you can not pool hop but my friend just got back from staying at the Broadwalk and she said they went swimming at all the pools around the Broadwalk, including Storm-along-bay.

I am confused? Can you pool hop? Thx, S

Sandra, I hope you are wearing battle gear...asking a simple question like that could flame you so bad you'll burn your biscuits! ;)

Disney does not allow pool hopping officially, it appears though that it isn't always enforced and CM's may sometimes make exceptions based on how busy the pool is. I think the official rules have been posted here a few times thanks to a very devoted member of the Disney Pool Protection Service. ;)

I figured I would get flamed for asking ~ but I am confused. We are planning to stay at BC and don't want pool hoppers, what would be the point of us staying there if we could just visit the pool! :p

Thanks for your reply! Folks can PM too! Thanks! S

I plan to do the same thing you're doing.

My son and I will spend 10 nights at All Star Sports, then one night at the Beach Club. This will give my son 2 days to spend splashing around Storm Along Bay.

I hope there aren't any pool hoppers while we're there. If you want to enjoy the pools, then just book a room.

I don't think you will have a problem with pool hopping at the BC, they require wrist bands.

Maybe it's because the slide at stormlong is closed for refurbishment so they are allowing BC & YC people to use the Boardwalk Pool.. so maybe the Boardwalk guests are allowed to use Stormalong as well?

Forgot about that. When is the refurbishment scheduled to be done?

I believe the storm along bay slide refurbishment should be finished before Easter. For awhile, people staying at Boardwalk could go to storm along bay when Boardwalk's pool was being refurbished, but I think that is finished now. Last week, I was at BC and saw them giving out armbands at the YC pool entrance.

No. They only allowed BC to go to the BW because of the slide situation. They were doing wristbands a few weeks ago too and were really checking everyone.

And the director recreation at the Boardwalk pool also wants to do the same thing at Boardwalk. To cut down on pool hoppers...she is having a little resistance...but she has already purchased the fence...So, my guess is in the not so distant future the Boardwalk will be under wristbands also...

Hi,

Does the Boardwalk Luna Park Pool look better in real life than in photos?

I was having a look at it the other night and it looked kinda tacky.. maybe it was the photo angles.?. but seeing that pool would keep me from booking there... is it really nicer than the impression I received?

Hi Sandra -

Is your friend a member of the Disney Vacation Club (timeshare)? If so, he/she may have pool hopped at BCV's excellent SAB without knowing that pool hopping there is now a no-no. One of the benefits of being a DVC member is that pool hopping at other Disney Resorts is allowed. However, with the opening of BCV last year, SAB had to become more restrictive due to the increased number of guests that DVC brought in.

I understand that the CMs around the pool are usually very strict about checking IDs and issuing wristbands. Perhaps you friend visited on a slow day or slipped in between shifts.

Here is the official language regarding pool hopping in 2003:

Disney Vacation Club Members and their guests staying with them at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Beach Club Villas are permitted to use other Walt Disney World® Resort and Disney Vacation Club resort hotel pools (other than the hotel at which you are staying) if these pools are not at capacity on any given day. Please check with the front desk of the destination hotel regarding pool availability. A Walt Disney World Resort ID card identifying you as a "DVC Member" is required to use the other pools. This offer is not available at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.

Hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, Disney Vacation Club Members may not "pool hop" during the following dates*:

April 12 - 20, 2003
May 23 - 26, 2003
June 30, 2003 - July 6, 2003
November 24 - 30, 2003
December 20, 2003 - January 3, 2004
If you are using the pool at a resort other than the one where you are staying, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate guests of that resort.

*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity.

HTH, Steve

They have had a fence around Luna Park several times. Especially when no pool hopping by DVC is permitted. We had friends staying there last Easter - we were at Swan and OKW. They issued hand stamps as well and checked all room keys.

I heard over the weekend that they are also going to crack down on pool hopping at the GF and Polynesian by checking ID's there as well as fencing the BW pool and requiring ID's there.

If this happens I see them soon enough fencing all of the pools and requiring room ID from everyone for every pool. There's simply been too many abuses and too many complaints as a result.

I don't think the Boardwalk's pool is all that special (it'd be great if it was bigger), but it has a really long waterslide and a playground with stuff that kids might consider fun.

Chances are that they will be giving out wristbands for use of Stormalong Bay. They were doing that last November and it wasn't even crowded. If you have your heart set on Stormalong Bay, stay there.

It's better in real life. The clown tacky thing has been debated (sorry we only discuss) here on a few occasions. The thing to remember is that it is supposed to be a throw back to the days when places like Atlantic City were at the height of their popularity. The theming works well with the surroundings.

It is a great area.
