I did read Hydro's tips on FP's but I am a bit confused, or maybe I get it and I just don't know it !

So, FP's are located at various attractions. You may get FP's at these attractions. If I get my first FP at attraction A, it will list a time when I can return to ride... although I CAN return and ride anytime after the time listed on my FP. At the time listed on my FP for return ride on my attraction A fastpass, I can now get another FP for another attraction. So, instead of riding at the time listed on my FP's I can just continue to collect them all day (at the time listed on the FP) and then return in the evening to use them all.
Is this right??? I sure hope so, or I am going to be REALLY confused:rotfl:!!

Also, FP between DL and DCA are NOT connected, AND Roger Rabbit is NOT connected. So, the same rules apply in DCA and with RR, I can get a FP anytime I want.

Please tell me I have it all figured out:upsidedow

yep, you've got it....that's what we do, collect all morning then use them at night.

And yes, DCA is separate from DL, so no matter what you're holding for DL, you can start collecting for DCA. However, the same rules apply at that park, you can't get another FP until the time stated on your first one. The exception would be Grizzly River Rapids, its not connected so you can get a FP any time. Same as Roger Rabbit.

You sound like you've got it.

The only thing to keep in mind is that you may not have to wait until your return time on the 1st FP to get another. You have to wait until the ride window opens on FP#1 OR 2 hours, whichever come first. If you collect FP#1 first thing in the morning, your ride window may open up in 40 minutes, and you can collect FP #2 at that time.

OR

Your ride window for FP#1 may not open up for 4 hours. You do not need to wait 4 hours to get FP #2. You may get FP#2 after you wait 2 hours.

When COLLECTING FP's, pay attention to the listed time when you can get another.

When USING FP's, pay attention to the listed return ride time.

Have a great trip!

The responders here were right on. The bottom line is that once you get your FP you will have to wait at least 40 minutes and at most two hours to get your next one. It is why getting to the parks early is so valuable.

One time in the summer of 2006 I got 12 FP sets in one day - all before 6PM. And we used them all! I could have gotten a few more sets after 6PM - in fact I tried to get one more FP set for BTMRR but it's FP machines were down at about 7PM.

One more wrinkle I verified this year is that the 40 minute to 2 hour rule does not apply to a ride for which you already have FP. If the FP window for Space Mtn is five hours away, you cannot get another FP for SM until the five hours have passed. But you can get a FP for anything else at DL after two hours have passed.

Yeah!!! I feel so smart:cool2: !!!

Thanks;)

:thumbsup2

I'm sure you've figured this out by reading Trey's tip threads, but one aspect that i think is important (that Trey & others mention) is to collect them early & often.

The FP collection "windows" are short early in the day. If the park opens at 8am, you could/should have 4-5 in your pocket by 11 - 11:30am.

After noon the park gets more crowded & the windows for FP collecting stretch out. If it gets crowded at DL, no worries....hop to DCA (with those 3-5 DL FPs in your pocket for evening use). You'll be relaxing & enjoying while others are stressing & complaining about crowds &/or lines.

.

It will say on the FP when you can get the next one. That's the time to pay attention to.

As stated by others....you don't really have to pay attention to the return time. They don't "expire" until the park closes.

YES you are smart! I wasnt getting it.:confused3

Thanks for clearing it up for me!:lovestruc

Great idea!!!

You do need to pay attention to the return time as you cannot enter the FP line BEFORE that time.

One question for ya. Can you collect fast passes and then if you don't use them all that day. Can you use them the next day?? I was just wondering if they have a date on them. TIA

In short the answer to this is No...you cannot use a FP from a previous day. However, once in a while, there may be a cast member that will let you. Don't get your hopes up though - for the most part - if you don't use them that day...save them for your scrapbook. Or give them to someone else as you're leaving the park if it's still open.

One more question! How long is the average wait when you are in a fast pass line? I am assuming that this varies... but at peak times, how long would you wait in the FP line??
Thanks again everyone, I am soooo glad you all have so much knowledge to share!!!!!

There are two FP lines so when you say "the FP line" it is not clear to which you are referring. There is the FP Distribution line where you get your FPs and the FP Return line where you use your FPs.

This has happened to us the last few years. I noticed it about 3 years ago when I got a FP for Indy around 2 PM that had a return time of around 8PM PM. I couldn't get another FP when the 2 hour window was up. :sad1: The standby wait time was like 75 minutes too. So needless to say we skipped that ride except for the FP...

I had no idea you had to wait to GET a FP :scared1: ... my original question was in reference to the FP line where you USE your FP, but now I want to know how long the wait is to actually GET your FP!

For ultra-popular rides (e.g., when Space Mtn re-opened in 2005) you might have a 5 minutes wait to get your FP. These days the wait to get the FP is zero-2 minutes.

The time it takes from when you enter the FP Return line until you get on the ride varies. For some rides it is 2 minutes. For rides like Autopia it can be 25 minutes (and not worth getting a FP for IMO). On average it is 5-15 minutes during busy times (mid-day high season) and less when it is less busy.

It sounds confusing when you read it, but you do it once and it becomes clear as a bell. OHHH I GET IT!. I went once and had all these fastpasses and never did need them the lines were so short. Depends on when you go.

I couldn't give you a time, but here are some estimated groups of FP rides based on wait time in the FP return line:

Very short (A couple minutes):
-Buzz
-Roger Rabbit
-Mulholland Madness (DCA)
-Grizzly River Run (DCA)
-Tower of Terror (towards the beginning of the day)

Short (around 5-10 minutes)
-Big Thunder
-Splash
-California Screamin (DCA)

Moderate (10-20)
-Tower of Terror (towards the end of the day)
-Space
-Soarin

Can still be long (20+)
-Indy
-Autopia

The reason for ToT being different according to the time of the day is that early in the day, ToT holds more guests in line before the preshow, but later in the day, they hold more guests in line after the preshow. FP joins right at the preshow, making ToT FP more effective in the morning.
