Confused about evening EMH

Went to evening EMH for first time ever. (We are hardcore rope drop and morning EMH people.) We stayed for 9:00 Fantasmic. Rides/Regular Studios hours closed at 9Pm and extra hours started at 10pm. There was Frozen Fireworks at 9:30pm. We were told at a rope to ToyStory that we would be let down to TSM at about 10:15pm I think there were technical issues with TSM and we were delayed further until 10:30 and then crazy mob (crazier than AM) to TSM.

Is this typical to have that hour down time of attractions/rides between park close and EMH?

Side note, no one checked our bands to see if we were resort guests other than verbal --asking as we got to rope for TSM wait.

I've never known there to be a gap between regular hours and EMH starting, no.

The thing with Toy Story is that they close the Pixar Place area for the Frozen Fireworks, because some burning debris will fall in that area. This had nothing to do with the EMH. When they are not doing fireworks, the ride would continue operating for EMH eligible guests with no interruptions.

Times Guide actually stated TSM closing at 8:45. Now I can't remember if it was all rides as I was specifically heading there first so wasn't check the whole list.

Yeah, DHS was not initially set up with shooting fireworks over the central plaza in mind. Pixar Place just has too much potential for fallout, so they play it safe and clear the area.
