Confused about die cutters/embossers-Cuttlebug or BigKick (or something else)?

I went to Michaels today to get the new Cuttlebug Mickey things but my store does not have them yet. I almost bought the Cuttlebug machine but then I thought I should ask for advice here before taking the plunge! So my question is, which machine should I get? I think my options are the Cuttlebug or the BigKick. Does one work better than the other? Is one better for using dies from the other? The dies that go with the BigKick seem to be thicker but maybe that was just the packaging?

In addition to the Mickey die cut (and other die cuts like flowers, stars, etc.) I'm thinking I could also use the machine to cut circles out of my pictures (so far I have not had any luck with the Fiskars circle cutter).

Any recommendations?

There was a thread here recently - can't find it now... But the majority of people had voted the cuttlebug. You can use the dies interchangably so it really depends on which method/machine you prefer.

I have the big kick and was able to use the mickey die with no problem.
I think it would depend on the size circle you want to cut as far as which machine would be better. I think the biggest cuttle bug dies are only 3 x 3. If you wanted to cut out circles larger than that then you would need the big kick.

Could someone say more about this? Having never used either, what are the important differences?

I appreciate the point about the larger circles being available with the BigKick. That could be an important factor, if there are no huge drawbacks to the BigKick.

The cuttlebug can cut and emboss all the dies out there- it was designed to take all the companies dies (except for the huge dies created for school by accucut that are 12 by 12. The cutting pad for the cuttlebug is about 3 inches wide and 4 inches long (I think). It is about 12 inches high and 12 inches long as well as about 6 inches deep. It has sides that fold down which you place the die onto and then roll it through. I have found it rolls through very easily.

I got to demo a cuttlebug at a local scrapbook store. LOVED IT!!! But it was $99 there. I just ordered it online from www.creativexpress.com for $35. I've already bought Disney folders & others. Just waiting on it to play...:hippie:

I have been so on the fence... but I just caved and bought it over on creative express... dh is not going to be happy. :) but that price (even with the shipping) is what I would have paid if I took my 40% coupon to the craft stores... providing that they even had it in stock. :) guess now I can trot over to ac moore with a coupon and get some dies... :) maggie
