Confused About Crocs

I have seen lots of mention on these boards about crocs and how the closed-toe ones are good for all the walking at WDW. To further confuse matters, I looked at the Crocs website: Beach, Cayman, Disney Beach, Kids' Disney Beach, Mary Janes, Kids' Mary Janes??? First of all, are these worn barefoot to WDW or should you wear socks with them? Does it matter if you get Mickey Crocs, or can you just get by with the Beach or the Cayman? Or should I dispense with the idea of crocs and opt for broken-in running shoes? Help???

11 days at the parks last time. Crocs were awesome! On cooler wet days, we went with tennies, but on the warmer days, we did crocs with no socks. They dry quickly, so if the weather is warm, they are wonderful even if it rains. This time I've got everyone a pair of Disney crocs, just for fun. We wear our crocs around here all the time. Crocs aren't just for Disney anymore. :rotfl:

I bought the Mickey ones and I think they are the same as the Cayman. If I am wrong, someone please correct me! I have not used mine outside the house yet, I am saving them for Disney, but I have seen people wear them with and without socks. I have not decided which I am doing yet. Mine are very comfy though! Hope that helped a bit!:goodvibes

I wear mine with socks- not fashionable, but comfy!

I recommend breaking them in before the trip! I wear mine on the treadmill for about 5 miles to get them nice and comfy! The Athens are my favorite so far (SO comfy!), but I want to try some of the new flip-flop styles! They're a little more girly than the Athens.

Also- try them on in a store if at all possible, instead of just ordering online. They seem to vary a lot from pair to pair- one pair of Large can be too big for me, while another fits just right. Some pairs seem squishier than others, too!

Dh and I took sneakers with us when we went in Jan but bought Mickey crocs while we were there. We wore them with socks because we hadn't broken them in. We did get small blisters and rub spots on the inside of our feet, above the arch. I suggest you get them early if you can and try to break them in. I personally will wear the ankle socks with mine, esp if it's cold. I also second trying them on before purchasing, if possible.

DH has back and knee problems and the crocs were really comfortable and kept him from being in a lot of pain early in our trip. He bought his the day we got there, put them on immediately and within just a few minutes the pain was easing and by the time we got back to our room, he was tired but not painful.

Have a great trip!

Here's what I know about Crocs:

1. To second other posters' suggestions, definitely try them on in-store to get your correct sizes. For example, I wear a 7.5 shoe (womens) regularly, but I wear an 8 in Cayman and Mary Jane, and a medium (8-9) in Beach.

2. Disney Crocs are Beach Crocs for adults; Disney Crocs are Caymans for kids.

3. I wear Crocs with socks. I wear socks with my Crocs. I try to avoid stepping on rocks when I wear socks with my Crocs. (OK, I channeled Dr. Seuss there, for a minute :rotfl: ). But in all honesty, I try to find ankle socks that closely match my Crocs, rather than wear garrish white socks with my Crocs. Someone else on the DIS recommended this to me, and I highly endorse that recommendation!

4. Try on in-store, order online! If you are new to Google checkout (simple type "checkout" into Google) you can get $10 off your first purchase. If you catch a Dick's sale, you can get $29.99 Crocs for a low as $13.99! That's how I got my Mary Jane's. My motto...never pay full price!

5. Jibbitz are cool, but they do not work in Disney Crocs without modifications (search the boards for crafty recommendations). But I wonder...why buy Disney Crocs with the adorable Mickey Mouse head holes if you're just going to fill them with Jibbitz?!? Put Jibbitz in regular Crocs and enjoy the Disney ones for their Mickey head holes.

myself and my dd have a couple pairs, and my dh makes fun of us, calls them "downright fugly"!

Although he does wear clogs...............................:scratchin

men.............hard to figure out ey?!:rolleyes2

does your dh/boyfriend/signficant other wear them?!
just curious:confused3

Hmmm I might have to try and order mine online to save some money then. Thanks for the tips.

Nope, my DH is a running shoe kind of guy. I have determined that my DD7 and I will try on Crocs Mary Janes at the local mall to check for size, and then order on-line. My DD7, ever the fashion-plate, does not like "regular" crocs but likes the "shaping" of the Mary Janes. She said they're made for girls. Thanks all for the tips.

If you are going to try to get away with your Crocs without socks, pack socks and a few bandaids in your bag. For some people they do rub on the inside. Trust me, no one cares in WDW what you have on your feet. Just be comfortable. I wear my crocs all year long, winter with socks, summer without!

if its raining and you're not wearing socks, are they really slippery? they look like they would be

I love love love my crocs. I have knee and ankle issues and unlike sneakers I can wear my crocs all day long pain free.

They are not slippery at all when wet

See my earlier post. DH loves tehm and can't wait to wear them again. He won't wear them outside when it's cold so he isn't getting to wear them much at all.

I didn't like crocks much at first either and thought the Mary Janes were very cute. Those were the first ones I was going to buy, I got bit by the Disney bug though and they wound up being first.

If you're planning on getting wet, I'd say no socks with crocs. (Hey that rhymes! Ha!)

I only say this because I hate wet socks. Went to WDW in July and wore my crocks the whole time without socks. My best friend wore tennis shoes. The difference? She had blisters and I did not. :)

Happy traveling!

What is the url for Dick's? I have a feeling that if I try to google it, I'll come up with some distinctly un-Disney results! :rotfl:

Hi,
We live in the UK, and my DD has the completely closed in ones, which she wears for University.. she loves them. I have a pair of beach ones which I wear all day!! Got some Mickey jibbets for them too!!!

I always thought Crocs were the ugliest shoes in the world, and never quite got them. But so many people on here were shouting thier glory, so I gave in. I actually for a coupon for shoebuy.com from someone at the time, so I saved an xtra $10 on top of 20% off for signing up for their website. I think you can save 20% plus another 10% if you sign up now.

With the $10 coupon I paid $18 for mine, and hte 20 and 10% (I am a cheater and "signed up" again, it's been a few months since the last time) I paid $24 for my DD2 Disney crocs.

That said. I LOVE crocs. I am 200+ pounds and walking a lot kills my calves and feet. The crocs were AMAZING.

I am trying to lose weight for my next Disney trip and the rest of my life. I can't wear Crocs everywhere.
