Confused about AAA?

I have AAA but have never used it for Disney. I thought it was only for room only discounts and we always book a package with dining. I have read a few posts lately though where it seems that people are getting room discounts with AAA and still adding on the dining plan? Am I confused? :confused3

At any rate, for this trip, I am paid in full so it doesn't matter. But are there other places at Disney that I can use my AAA card for discount?

Thanks,
Jes

I believe that when people talk about using dining with AAA, they are switching to a package, going through a AAA agent. I think, from my reading and planning, that you can use a AAA room discount rate calling Disney directly or going through a AAA agent, but if a package deal opens with AAA, you have to book using an agent.

That's what I've gleaned from reading, at least. :)

PP is correct. You can book a room only rate through AAA or CRO. You can book a DDP package but it must be done through AAA.

I have my 3rd trip in a row through AAA. You can get a package with DDP if you wish. You get the AAA discount off the room portion of the package, but you must book through an AAA agent at an AAA office. I'm saving about $400 on 8 nights at the Poly in early August, when compared to the rate CRO offered me.

Re: your other question - yes, AAA has other discounts for travel related, general shopping, etc. Try the AAA website to see them all. Even without a Disney discount, I can save enough each year to at least pay for the membership (usually more).
