Hello,
I would like your opinion about cars for our holidays in december. We will rent a car (SUV) via Alamo and they propose us a Tahoe or similar. Similar = Aspen, Durango, Yukon, Commander, Expedition, Armada or Tahoe. Since I'm living in a country where those cars don't "exist", I can't know how confortable they are or how big their trunk are.
We will have a lot of luggages. We got 2 children and we don't want to put some luggages near them.
So which car do you suggest us to choose (if we got the oppportunity to choose) ? I'm taking confort and trunk into consideration since we will go to Yosemite, Disneyland, Seaworld etc. So we will drive a lot.
Thank you for your help

Sorry for my english...

I think any mid-sized SUV with a third row seat that can be folded down will give you a good amount of luggage space :)

Those are big American SUVs. You definitely will have plenty of room for luggage, however it will not be in a separate trunk that is completely closed off from the passenger compartment of the vehicle--it will behind the children and not in their way at all, but those vehicles don't have separate trunks.

Those are large vehicles. The PP pointed out that they do not have a separate trunk area. They have a space behind the seats for you to store luggage. I have no idea what you mean by lots of luggage but I think you said there will be a total of four passengers. That means you should have plenty of room in these large vehicles.

If you want to do some research yourself, try this site.

You can scroll down and pick each of the recommended vehicles, see their gas mileage (might be important for you with the number of miles you are driving) and even read reviews. This will show you 2011 models. If you want to see older models, you can do that at this location.

I know those sites might be a bit confusing.

Personally, I'd choose the Expedition, if you get the choice. That is a solid vehicle and there are quite a few of them on the roads out here. I think the Durango is slightly smaller. The Tahoe is good too though.

I have a Durango and I think it is the smallest of those listed. It has the 2 front seats, a second row bench style seat with the end seats being able to fold forward, and a third row bench seat that can be folded up for large storage.

I really enjoy it because it's a bit more narrow then the others, and I think a touch longer. This makes it easier to maneuver and fit in smaller parking stalls.

As long as you only have two children (to fit in the middle seats), the third row, folded down, should have plenty of room for luggage for four.

Yes we will be four : 2 adults and 2 children. I already read the site of the different cars like Dodge, Chevrolet etc. But images are not the same as reality. That's why I wanted your opinion about trunk and confort. We probably will have around 6 big luggages and 4 small.
A Tahoe seems okay but it needs to be a Tahoe 5 places because if it's a Tahoe 7 places, the 2 last seats don't dissapear into the "ground" (don't know how to explain it - sorry :/ ). So we loose the surface of the 2 seats.
I like the expedition because the trunk is flat. The links you gave me, Cyclenut, helps me a lot. Thank you.
My brother was in US in April and drove a Durango. He told me that it was really confortable. Unfortunatelly, they needed to change the car because they were not able to restart it when they needed to leave the hotel. Then he drove a Tahoe (7 places) and he told me about the trunk and the 2 seats.
But you secured me. I know now i will have enough place for my luggages. About the confort, i will check again the links you gave me and compare everything :)
Thank you again <3

did you look into maybe a minivan slightly cheaper than an suv with same comfort level and space in rear for luggage i have both a tahoe and an dodge caravan and i prefer my minivan to the suv because of its better driving and parking with all the same comfort!! and usually much better gas mileage than the tahoe!! also some newer models of minivan have the seats that fold into the floorboards it may be worth checking out for your trip!! Good luck!!

Well, we are going to Yosemite Park. In december, generally, it's snowing (that is what guardians of the park told us). That is why we prefer a SUV instead of a minivan.
