First time poster, long time Disney Parks goer.

Currently at WDW and talked with a ticket sales employee today about the upcoming prices hikes.

He said that when the price hike announced today officially sets in, WDW will no longer be selling park passes with the no Expiration Date option. :(

He also said that employees don't know for sure when the price hike will officially go into effect, but hikes usually happen on Sundays. He speculated that the price hike--- as well as the stoppage of selling park tickets with no expiration date--- could happen this Sunday. If not this Sunday, the stoppage of selling WDW Park Passes will happen on the date the price hike officially takes effect.

Thought I would share this in case it does happen on Sunday so that people can still purchase WDW Park Passes with the no expiration option before it's too late.

Thx. Trying to decide whether to get 2 10-days for my kids. They are now $733 each. Ugh. Have two for adults a few years ago already....

Have done APs but thinking about the years I go once for 5 days and maybe skip a year....

Thanks for the info, and good first post.

Welcome to the Dis!

I thought this was supposed to happen a long time ago.

It was supposed to happen 2 years ago... They took the signs down then...

But I think they didnt want to play with the ticket system during magic band rollout and held off...trying to "simplify"... Something Disney operations is 100% awful at.

Thats right UncleKyle. Its pure greed. Plain and simple.

1. There has been no price increase announced. And they are always announced late on a Friday and go into effect on Sunday. So any statements about a price increase this week are wrong.

2. The problem with the No Expire Option, which is why it does not show up on the web site, is people have been misunderstanding the expiration policy. They have been buying the NE tickets and then asking for refunds of the NE portion because of these misunderstandings.

If a person buys them over the phone, or at a ticket-selling location at WDW, the seller can discuss the option with the purchaser to make sure they don't buy what they don't need.

Those of us who sell tickets at WDW do not get a commission on sales (I wish, I wish!) and will work with the Guests to save them money.

I'm glad I bought mine when I did last year (and just bought some for my son this month) ... Even though you pay the premium cost .. the tickets (with hopper) still averaged out to $75/day (if you bought 10 day passes) ..which is a significant discount on the current day rate. Quite reasonable if you only do a 2-3 park day vacation (which I plan on doing until the boy gets older).

heck .. I am tempted to buy a few more just for the future.

So, is this a game of semantics?

Disney may not have publicly announced a price increase, but according to the ticket agent I spoke with, they said there indeed would be a price increase happening. PR answers are common amongst WDW Park employees, but I've never been directly lied to by a WDW Park employee. [to the best of my knowledge] Maybe this employee has better connections at WDW?

With all due respect, I did not say price increases at WDW will happen this week, rather could. [even put that word in bold]

.

A reader skimming your OP might have read your first sentence and not the part of your post where you back pedaled.

Any CM high enough to have correct information regarding price changes won't be sharing that information.

Disney frequently increases ticket prices this time of year. Attendance has been better then good. Disney (appears to some of us) treats theme park guests as an ATM machine. Many Disney fan sites are predicting a price increase this month.

CMs sharing information regarding a price increase are sharing information they obtained from the same fan boards we read. (mixed in with their own experiences). I wouldn't call the CM a liar. I'm he believes the information he shared with you.

An end to the non-expiry tickets. Signs are on the wall. No signs promoting the option for the last year or so. Pricing makes the option of questionable value to most guests. A person who is planning on buying a pass for two trips (4 -6 days per trip) is probably better off buying a separate ticket for each trip.

We go to Disney every year for 3 maybe 4 days (weather dependant) and we like to park hop. Buying through undercover tourist the 10 day no expiration park hopper water park and more ticket costs $768.00. Ignoring the added benefit of the waterpark entries, I calculate our entrance to the major parks to be $77.00 per day. You have to buy a 6 day ticket park hopper ticket to come out ahead and you have to be sure to use those 6 days or you lose out. Make sure you use the 6 water park and more tickets on that same trip as well.

For those of us who go 5 days or less per trip, we are better off with the no expiration.

Not a surprise! The prices keep increasing every year and they were just waiting to implement this.

My dad and stepmom have no expiration tickets and were told by a CM while they were down in November the no expiration option will no longer be offered, if that helps at all. He didn't say whether the CM had indicated when this would go into effect, or what area said CM works in (and I didn't think to ask, sorry!).

If this turns out to be true, I will certainly have to cut back on my trips!

It's just not right. They should rethink their policy on unused days then...

I think what they're saying is they have...

"Use them or lose them"

Disney is very good at research and tracking what goes on under their nose

First, they can bank it and they like that...

Second...
If their is a "leak" up I-4 and people are splitting their stays between Uni and wdw...they don't want that.
If you show up on January 1 and buy a 10 day hopper...they'll expect to be seeing you clean through the 10th.

Now, you can still split your stay and buy a shorter pass...but now you won't get the benefit of buying in bulk.

There are other issue as well.
They took the media offering the no expiration down about 2 years ago...and priced it to almost "ween" people off it/ discourage the purchase of it.

You know I was watching the Disunplugged today the podcast run by the owner of this site and he brought up a good point. The one day ticket increase is really just for show basically because how many people actually buy a one day ticket. Multiday tickets are cheaper per day than a one day ticket. Many people complain and say it's too expensive but how many actually stop going and stop buying the tickets. Yes it's not the best for us the consumer that we have to pay more but how many of us here are actually going to not go anymore. We are here because we love Disney.
