Confirmed - Ticket Price Increases

As of when? If I book a trip now for November, will I get the current ticket price, or will they change my price once the ticket price goes up?

The minute they announce...and that could be any minute...you're effectively screwed.

If I recall... The most notice they give if increased is a few days

Good gravy I hope not but that is probably what they are thinking..
And that is the false hope that the deep pockets will be enough to sustain the company-and it is a problem of the 1%'ers way of thinking. I mean if I had millions of dollars at my disposal if I desired to go to Disney I would just rent the presidential suites at a deluxe, and do a personal private tour. I certainly wouldn't suddenly change my style and go out in parks as a "normal" person!

That is also a problem with promising share holders an ever increasing profit. Anyone with even a fraction of common sense thinking power will realize at some point a limit will be reached in order for a company to be sustainable. Of course unlimited greed among the top is clearly clouding this thinking. And before I get flamed I am NOT saying a company shouldn't make a profit!! But a reasonable sustainable profit is more modest than the greedy blood sucking big corporate thinking that has been going on for the past few decades. How many effing mansions and cars does a one person need anyway?
That's the thing. You think the 1% are paying these prices? Nope! The average people are paying these ever increasing ticket prices. Attendance continues to rise with no ill effect. Disney, despite what everyone on these boards is saying is not pricing out the "middle class" or whatever you want to call these not upper income bracket people are. These people are still coming in droves. Disney has not hit the point where prices drive down attendance.

Over the last decade Disney ticket prices have had an increase of 138% percent change. If they've been able to get away with this, they were bargain basement.

I've got to agree with DDLand, this is not the 1% who are paying these inflated prices. I am a So Cal local. I know most people here frequent WDW, but DL prices have been rising at a steady clip as well. An AP at DL use to be an entertainment bargain for locals who went regularly. When they instituted monthly payments for APs the prices went through the roof! Sometimes it went up twice a year! How are the "not upper income bracket people" paying for these? Remember if you have a family you are buying an AP for 3, 4, or more people? These are the vast majority of Americans with little savings. They live paycheck to paycheck and they pay for their Disney addiction month to month.

As Dl passes have kept growing I'm having to reevaluate my own purchase of one. I bought my current one when DVC had a deal last year. I plan on holding out for future deals from DVC.

Agreed. With Disneyland Annual Passes they're going to have to be more careful increasing anymore. I have a feeling there are an increasing number of the massive local population (like yourself) that are starting to look themselves in the mirror and ask if they can afford them. The light may be at the end of the tunnel there.

If you have a package booked but not paid in full are you locked in at the old rate or will your price increase as well?

Typically the price increase is announced on a Sunday and the increase occurs on Monday - so about 24 hours notice.

As long as you do not make any changes to your package, you're locked in at the older ticket price. As noted, any change such as the resort, number of people in your party, date change, etc. will result in the higher ticket price being applied to your package reservation.

And, typically, the third-party resellers don't change their prices immediately.

Just to be clear ...I don't think disneyworld is angling I be a "1%" place...

The 1% could rent the park out for the night privately and go on Peter Pan for hours if they wanted.

What I think they are doing is banking on a "new middle class" that makes - relative to inflation - about the equivalent of what the "lower upper class" made in the 80's...the lawyer crowd.

But see...if Disney would step outside of Disney and look at every labor study for about 40 years domestically...to not even get into what a gamble that would be internationally...it would show them that the "new middle class" doesn't exist. At least not In the numbers they would need to sustain them.

It was intentionally eliminated years ago by a coalition of business and well placed politics.

And that - is the core customer of Disney parks.

Where are they gonna find that core now?

Sorry, my info was not correct. The last several ticket price increases were announced on a Saturday and the increase occurred on Sunday - still about a 24 hour advance notice.

Nah, I was responding to both you and the other poster in one post.

I think they'll raise prices each year and then assess how it effected each of their target groups. If and when the US numbers start to stall then you'll see action. What's interesting is there's a large part of the population you'd never expect to go to Disney at these prices still going. I'm not even sure if Disney thought that people would be this strong in the face of these price hikes. Wage growth has been stagnant and people are still going. Unbelievable. Kind of rewriting the laws on theme park pricing.

Well if it's soon, I suspect that this Sunday 2/15 is when the increase will happen. Now what to do, I need to buy one but should I wait to see if there is a DVC AP special or bite the bullet....:crazy2:

Tinkerdreams,

Do you think that a DVC annual price slash is gonna be announced in the next 2 days?

I've bought the last two promos they've had...late 12 and spring 14 if I recall...
And those were offered for months each...

I think they're gone at this point...2015 looks like it's a "pay to play" year.

Perhaps if bookings go soft for awhile...then miraculously it returns.

As it stands now...mine expires in July...and it will not be renewed unless there is a significant Incentive rolled out.

I can always take a few years off from DVC - ie exchange out and explore the world -
And the magic band goes into mothballs.

But they don't think I can stand to do it...

Watch me, baby ;)

Well for me it's more cost affective to buy the AP now as I have a trip in May and another in October. I really liked the discount in 2012. That was a sweet deal. I just wish that they had more incentives for the AP purchase as that would draw people to visit more and spend more $$$$.

Oh I hear ya...

I love the $399 pass and even the $469 PAP last year...

It shows how completely arbitrary ticket pricing it is...
One year they offer a $300 off incentive...the next year crickets.

They make more money of me with an incentive pass...that is 101% certain...

So they continually play this game where they try to slide
It by everyone...
And when the numbers fall - poof...it's back.

We're in that cycle now again...I'm sure.

I hope DVC members will get offer like last year and year before last . Just get fingers cross. Have a nice weekend to all.

I remember when cigarettes were $3 and saying that I'd rather quit than pay $5 a pack. Here I am still smoking and cigs are $10 a pack. Disney is an addiction for me. I understand that the prices are going to go up every year for food, hotel, tickets, and airfare. I just hope I can take my rose colored glasses off to see when it just really isn't worth what I'm paying for a vacation.
